Shares of about 12 small-cap companies jumped 20% each in the trading session on Monday as the benchmark Sensex finished at 34,300.47, up by 294.71 points. Indian equity markets saw a healthy recovery in almost all the sectors on Monday after a depressed session in the last six sessions led by the global sell-off and worries over LTCG on equity over Rs 1 lakh being taxed at 10%. Earlier on Friday last week, Indian stock markets closed on a negative note with Sensex losing as much as losing as much as 1,493 points in last six days and Nifty hitting a low of 2018. During the three-day sell-off, from 2 to 6 February 2018, a heavy jolt was observed in Indian stock markets as about 1,710 points were washed away from the 30-share barometer Sensex including a massive intraday slump of 1,274 points on Tuesday (6 February 2018).
Today, domestic markets took a breather from sinking following the sharp recovery in the major US indices and positive cues from European markets. We take a look at 12 small-cap stocks that jumped 20% each in Monday’s trading session.
Shares of Chembond Chemicals gained 20% to Rs 306.05, Competent Automobiles Co surged 20% to Rs 310.55, Aptech rose 20% to Rs 330.3, Kilitch Drugs (India) advanced 20% to Rs 98.75, Hariyana Ship Breakers soared 20% to Rs 104.5, Lambodhara Textiles zoomed 20% to Rs 72.1 and Agri-Tech (India) rose 20% to Rs 167.3. Other major gainers were, Dynamic Cables up 20% at Rs 63.1, Crescent Leasing up 19.92% at Rs 63.8, Focus Suites Solutions & Services up 19.91% at Rs 25.9, Sumedha Fiscal Services up 19.9% at Rs 50 and P B Films up 19.88% at Rs 2.05.
Meanwhile today, shares of heavyweight companies such as HDFC twins, RIL drove Sensex to log a 295-point gain with Nifty ending near 10,500 while shares of Tata Steel and Bank of Baroda rose up to 9%. The S&P BSE Sensex gained 294.71 points or 0.87% to finish at 34,300.47 and NSE Nifty jumped 84.8 points or 0.81% to conclude at 10,539.75. Shares of Tata Steel, Bank of Baroda, Marico, Bajaj Finserv, PNB, Power Grid, Yes Bank, IndusInd Bank, UPL and BHEL advanced 2-9%. A market-wide recovery was seen in the Indian equities as all the broader indices and nine sectoral indices settled in green. Among the A group of shares on BSE, stocks of L&T Technology Services, Shipping Corporation of India emerged as the top gainers surging 10-12% while the stock of Fortis Healthcare, Hexaware Technologies lost 3-6%.
