The BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty closed on a flat note on Monday in a lacklustre trade as sentiment turned cautious ahead of the expiry of derivative contracts in a holiday-shortened week. Sensex closed 49.15 points down at 25819.34, while Nifty closed 7.30 points down at 7849.25.

Petronet LNG: The stocks of the company closed 6.02 per cent up at Rs 233.35 after Qatar agreed to waive $ 1 billion penalty on India for breaking a long-term LNG contract, and has also consented to change the pricing formula to reflect the slump in global energy rates. After months of intense negotiations, RasGas of Qatar has agreed to not to press for the $1 billion in penalty that Petronet LNG Ltd, India’s biggest import of liquefied natural gas (LNG), has to pay for buying only 68 per cent of the contracted 7.5 million tonnes this year.

Vedanta, Hindalco Industries: Share price of metals and mining companies Vedanta and Hindalco were under pressure in the early trade on Monday after the announcement by the BSE on Friday that both of these companies will shift out of the BSE benchmark Sensex from December 21. Later, the share price of Vednata closed 2.90 per cent down at Rs 90.45 and Hindalco Industries ended 3.82 per cent down at Rs 74.35.

Adani Ports and Asian Paints: Asia Index Private Ltd, a joint venture between S&P Dow Jones Indices and BSE Ltd, said it would add Adani Port and Special Economic Zone and Asian Paints Ltd to its 30-member S&P BSE Sensex index. The share price of Adani Enterprises closed 1.28 per cent up at Rs 79.30, whereas Asian Paints shares closed 2.89 per cent up at Rs 850.75.

Titan Company: Stocks of the company ended 2.29 per cent up at Rs 380.05 after the watch maker and global information technology major HP joined hands to offer a range of smart watches to be launched soon.

Britannia Industries: Stocks of the company ended 0.41 per cent up at Rs 2980.00 after the company said that it is aiming at Rs 20,000 crore turnover within 5-6 years.

Advanta: Advanta Shares closed 0.50 per cent at Rs 478.55 after the company said that it has received its board approval for the proposal of the amalgamation of the company with UPL.

Pfizer: Stocks of the company were trading 1.31 per cent up at Rs 2432.20(1.28 pm) after the Pfizer Inc secured formal board approval on Sunday for its acquisition of Botox maker Allergan Plc for more than 150 billion. Later, the share price of the company closed 1.52 per cent up at Rs 2437.45.

Sobha Ltd: The realty firm has tied up with another realtor Chintels India to develop a group housing project comprising of 1,700 flats in Gurgaon at an estimated cost of Rs 1,000 crore. Later, the share price of the company closed 0.05 per cent down at Rs 300.55.
