The BSE Sensex rose 44.42 pts or 0.07% to 61,319.51 and NSE Nifty 50 advanced 20.00 pts or 0.11% to 18,035.85. The top gainers on Nifty were ONGC, Tech Mahindra, Apollo Hospital, Divis Lab and Nestle India while BPCL, Bajaj Finance, Mahindra & Mahindra, Eicher Motors and HDFC Life were the top losers.

After robust jobs data, strong retail sales numbers in the US showed proof of resilience in the US economy amidst concerns over elevated inflation numbers. Asian markets concluded Thursday’s session mostly in green. Japan’s Nikkei 225 rose 194.58 pts or 0.71% to 27,696.44, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng climbed 175.50 or 0.84% to 20,987.67 and South Korea’s KOSPI advanced 47.58 pts or 1.96% to 2,475.48 while China’s Shanghai Composite index fell 31.46 pts or 0.96% to 3,249.03.
Nifty IT rose 633 pts or 2.05% to 31,567.55. All its constituents were trading in green. Tech Mahindra, MPhasis, LTTS and LTIM are the top gainers.
Foreign institutional investors (FII) bought shares worth a net Rs 432.15 crore while domestic institutional investors (DII) purchased shares worth a net Rs 516.64 crore on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, according to the data available on NSE. For the month till February 15, FIIs sold shares worth a net Rs 2,354.37 crore while DIIs bought shares worth a net Rs 7,696.17 crore.
BHEL, Indiabulls Housing Finance, Ambuja Cements
The top gainers on the Sensex were Tech Mahindra, Larsen & Toubro, Reliance Industries Ltd, HDFC and Sun Pharma while the only losers were Titan and Maruti.
The BSE Sensex rose 315.41 pts or 0.51% to 61,590.50 and NSE Nifty 50 rose 84.85 pts or 0.47% to 18,100.70.
The US equity market ended the overnight session in the green territory with Dow Jones Industrial Average rising 38.78 pts or 0.11% to 34,128.05, S&P 500 was up 11.47 pts or 0.28% to 4,147.60 and the tech-heavy Nasdaq composite index climbed 110.45 or 0.92% to 12,070.59.
Asian markets were trading in green with China’s Shanghai Composite index rising 13.10 pts or 0.40% to 3,294.81, Japan’s Nikkei 225 climbed 193.30 or 0.70% to 27,695.16, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng surged 332 pts or 1.60% to 21,144.17 and South Korea’s KOSPI advanced 40.49 pts or 1.69% to 2,468.44.
