Nifty 50, Sensex today at close: Indian benchmark indices ended lower on Tuesday, weighed down by weakness in information technology stocks. The Sensex declined 0.33% to close at 76,478.67, while the Niftyfell 0.34% to settle at 23,865.75.
Among the top gainers, Maruti Suzuki rose 5.33%, followed by Titan (3.29%), Bajaj Finance (2.41%), Eternal (2.39%) and Adani Ports (1.94%).
On the losing side, Infosys fell 3.05%, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) declined 3.01%, HCL Technologies dropped 2.82%, while Tech Mahindra slipped 2.02%.
Nifty 50, Sensex today at open: Indian equity markets opened the trade on a higher note, but soon turned subdued. The Nifty 50 was down 3.3 points or 0.01% to trade at 23,943, while the BSE Sensex opened the trade 37 points or 0.05% higher at 76,765.
Eicher Motors, Tata Consumer Products, Infosys, Dr Reddy’s Lab, and HDFC Life Insurance were the five biggest losers in the Nifty 50.
“Technically, after a muted opening, the market faced sustained selling pressure at higher levels throughout the session. It formed a bearish candle on the daily charts, indicating the possibility of further weakness in the near term,” said Shrikant Chouhan, Head of Equity Research at Kotak Securities.
Share market today ahead of opening, June 30: The global markets are trading mixed as the geopolitical uncertainties weigh on investor sentiment, while a rebound in tech stocks pushes indices higher in the US. Crude oil prices remained under the $75 a barrel mark. Following this, the GIFT Nifty is indicating a flat start for Indian markets, up 9 points or 0.04%.
Earlier on Monday, the Nifty 50 closed the session 110 points or 0.46% lower at 23,946, while the BSE Sensex declined 372 points or 0.48% to close at 76,728.37.

GIFT Nifty Record
GIFT Nifty recorded an all-time high Open Interest (OI) of $21.56 Billion and a record 4,46,150 contracts on June 25, 2026. It surpassed the previous highs of $21.23 billion in OI and 4,10,100 contracts achieved on October 24, 2025. “We are glad to witness the success of GIFT Nifty and express our sincere gratitude to all the participants for their overwhelming support and for making GIFT Nifty a successful contract,” said the company in a press release.
Nifty 50 rejig
The National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) implemented its quarterly index rebalancing on June 29. As per Nuvama Institutional Equities, among the Nifty 50 stocks, Coal India, ICICI Bank, Eternal, HDFC Bank, and Bajaj Finance saw an increase in weights, leading to inflows worth up to $26 million. However, Bharti Airtel, SBI, L&T, Grasim Industries and Maruti Suzuki likely saw their weights being reduced on the benchmark index.
Asian Markets
Asia-Pacific markets opened on a mixed note as tech stocks rebounded. The Japanese benchmark Nikkei 225 advanced 1.36% to 70,416.02 in early trading. while the Topix surged 0.08%. The Kospi dropped 1.89% at open, while the small-cap Kosdaq fell 0.58%.
US indices
On Monday, US markets closed at record highs after the US and Iran agreed to pause hostilities and allow commercial vessels to transit freely. The Dow advanced 306.63 points, or 0.59%, ending at 52,182.74, closing above the 52,000 mark for the first time. The S&P 500 gained 1.18% and closed at 7,440.43, while the Nasdaq Composite rose 2.07% to 25,820.14.
Crude oil
West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures were trading 0.62% lower at $70.31 per barrel. On the other hand, Brent crude futures with August delivery were trading 0.77% lower at $72.59, below the psychologically important level of $75. On COMEX, crude prices declined 0.75% to trade at $70.22 a barrel.
Gold rate today
On COMEX, the precious metal was trading at $4,009.90 an ounce, down 0.72%.
The rate for 24-carat gold today is Rs 1,42,550 per 10 grams. The price of gold has fallen 1.23% from yesterday. The 24 kt gold rate today in Delhi is Rs 1,42,310 per 10 grams. The 18-carat gold price today in India is Rs 1,06,912.5. The 24-carat gold rate in Dubai today is Rs 1,49,590.
Silver rate today
On COMEX, Silver prices traded 0.33% lower at $57.98 per troy ounce. This is after prices hit their 2026 lows in the previous session.
In India, the silver rate fell 0.3% to Rs 2.22 lakh per kilogram.
Silver had surged to record highs in January amid geopolitical tensions and economic uncertainty, with heavy speculative buying pushing prices higher, but soon faced volatility.
FII, DII data
Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were net sellers of shares worth Rs 1,350.10 crore. On the other hand, the Domestic institutional investors (DIIs) were the net buyers of shares worth Rs 2,801.45 crore on June 29, 2026, according to the provisional data available on the NSE.
US dollar
The US Dollar Index (DXY), which measures the dollar’s value against a basket of six foreign currencies, was trading 0.06% higher at 101.18. The index evaluates the strength or weakness of the US dollar in comparison to major currencies. The basket contains currencies such as the British Pound, Euro, Swedish Krona, Japanese Yen, Swiss Franc, etc. The rupee depreciated 0.14% to close at 94.54 to the dollar on June 29.
Top sectors in Monday’s trade
The Silver sector’s stocks increased the most in Monday’s trade, rising 2.36% in market capitalisation. Further, Cable stocks were followed by the Mining sector stocks, which were further followed by the Aluminium stocks. However, the Plastics sector stocks fell the most, declining 4.8%.
