Radico Khaitan shares surge 9% as Q1 net profit rises

Radico Khaitan shares jumped over 9 per cent on Wednesday after the company reported 25.25 per cent rise in net profit at Rs 21.53 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2016 against Rs 17.19 crore in the corresponding quarter a year ago.

Radico Khaitan shares jumped over 9 per cent on Wednesday after the company reported 25.25 per cent rise in net profit at Rs 21.53 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2016 against Rs 17.19 crore in the corresponding quarter a year ago. Total income of the company jumped by 3.15 per cent year-on-year to Rs 430.39 crore for the quarter under review against Rs 417.25 crore in the same quarter last year. Expenditure of Radico Khaitan increased marginally 0.73 per cent to Rs 384.52 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2016 against Rs 381.72 crore in the same quarter last fiscal. Shares of the company closed 9.03 per cent up at Rs 101.40.

The scrip opened the day at Rs 95.40 and touched a high and low of Rs 104.45 and Rs 93.95, respectively, in trade so far. Benchmark BSE Sensex closed 59.24 points down at 28,005.37.

Promoters hold 40.46 per cent stake in Radico Khaitan, while public held 59.54 per cent stake in the company. The BSE group ‘B’ stock of face value Rs 2 has touched a 52 week high of Rs 130.90 on 20 Nov 2015 and a 52 week low of Rs 81.20 on 07 Sep 2015.

In the past one year, shares of the liquor firm jumped by 7.81 per cent till August 17, whereas BSE Sensex jumped marginally 0.46 per cent during the same period.

For the financial year ended March 31, 2016, the company reported net profit of Rs 76.89 crore, up 13.68 per cent, against Rs 67.64 crore a year ago.
