Indian equity benchmarks closed Tuesday’s session on a lower note. The Nifty 50 ended the day 167 points or 0.64% lower at 25,860, while the BSE Sensex dropped 534 points or 0.63% to end at 84,680.
Similarly, the Nifty Bank settled 427 points or 0.72% lower at 59,035, in line with benchmarks. The mid-cap stocks also closed the trade in the red. The BSE Midcap finished 360 points or 0.78% lower at 46,191.59. However, the BSE Smallcap finished 352 points or 0.69% lower at 50,744.

Indices in intraday trade
The indices closed the trade on a lower note. During the session, out of 3,211 trading stocks, 1,023 advanced, while 2,096 declined, and 92 remained unchanged. Today, 25 stocks hit a fresh 52-week high. Meanwhile, 98 stocks touched a new 52-week low.
Top gainers
Bharti Airtel was the top gainer in the Nifty 50 in Tuesday’s session, closing 1.7% higher. It was followed by Titan, Tata Consumer Products, M&M, and Bajaj Auto.
Top losers
Axis Bank’s shares were the biggest losers in today’s trade, dipping 5.12%. It was followed by Eternal, JSW Steel, HCL Technologies, and Tata Steel were the only losers.
