Sensex closed 445.91 points up at 28978.02, while Nifty 50 index settled 133.35 points up at 8943.
Benchmark BSE Sensex soared 400 points on Tuesday and NSE Nifty reclaimed the psychological 8,900-mark for the first time since March 2015 on account of heavy buying in banking, auto and consumer durables stocks amid sustained foreign fund inflows. Sensex closed 445.91 points up at 28978.02, while Nifty 50 index settled 133.35 points up at 8943. In the 50-share index, Tata Motors, Axis Bank, Tata Motors DVR, YES Bank and ICICI Bank gained between 4.16 per cent and 6.90 per cent. On the other hand, Coal India, Tata Consultancy Services, Tata Power, UltraTech Cement and Wipro slid between 0.30 per cent and 1.27 per cent.
3.20 pm: Sensex was trading 456.37 points up at 28,992.60. Nifty was trading 133.75 points up at 8943.40. Asian peers ended higher on Tuesday. Shanghai, Hang Seng and Nikkei closed up by 0.61 per cent, 0.58 per cent and 0.26 per cent, respectively.
3.11 pm: Nifty Bank index was trading 517.10 points up at 20400.30. Axis Bank, Punjab National Bank and ICICI Bank were trading higher by 6.13 per cent, 4.72 per cent and 4.27 per cent, respectively.
3.06 pm: Reliance Capital, a part of Anil-Ambani led Reliance Group, on Tuesday announced completion of a fund raising exercise of Rs 2,000 crore (US$ 300 million) through private placement of secured redeemable Non-Convertible Debentures (NCD) for a period of 5 years and 10 years, respectively. Shares of Reliance Capital were trading 2.30 per cent up at Rs 557.10.
3.04 pm: Sensex surged further and was trading 428 points points up at 28960.68. Nifty was up 120.45 points at 8,930.10.
2.45 pm: Domestic tea exports increased by 5.76 per cent to 97.44 million kg during Jan-June 2016, according to the Tea Board of India. During the first half of 2015, volume of tea shipped was at 92.13 mkg.
2.19 pm: Lanco Infratech was trading 12.31 per cent up at Rs 5.11. Sensex was up 309.30 points at 28841.41. Nifty was trading 94.15 points up at 8903.80.

12.04 pm: Den Networks has received an approval to demerge its broadband/internet service provider arm ‘Skynet Cable Network’. The board of the company in its meeting held on September 5, 2016 has considered and approved the demerger of the broadband business. The scheme would be subject to approval of the shareholders, who will meet on September 29, 2016. Shares of Den Network were trading 0.54 per cent down at Rs 74.30. Sensex was trading 284 points up at 28,816. Nifty was up 85.65 points at 8,895.

10.53 am: Meanwhile, Sensex jumped as much as 305.77 points to 28837.88. At 10.54 am, the index was trading 292.50 points up at 28824.61.
10.31 am: Asian peers were trading higher as investors awaited the Reserve Bank of Australia’s policy meeting in which it is expected to keep interest rates steady. Though, absence of any lead overnight from Wall Street, which was closed for a public holiday, capped some gains.

9.55 am: Chennai headquartered Equitas Small Finance Bank on Tuesday commenced its banking operations with 3 branches in Chennai. This is the first private sector bank from Tamil Nadu post independence. Shares of Equitas Holdings were trading higher by 1.58 per cent at Rs 182.70.

9.30 am: Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories has launched Bupropion HCI extended-release tablets, USP (SR) in 100 mg, 150 mg and 200 mg, a therapeutic equivalent generic version of Wellbutrin SR (bupropion HCI) Sustained-Release Tablets in the United States market approved by the US Food & Drug Administration (USFDA). Dr. Reddy’s Buproprion SR tablets are available in 100 mg, 150 mg and 200 mg, in bottle count sizes of 60, 100 and 500. Shares of the pharma major were trading 0.56 per cent up at Rs 3140.
9.20 am: In the 50-share index, Tata Motors, Infosys, Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors DVR and IndusInd Bank were trading higher between 1.33 per cent and 1.67 per cent. On the other hand, Idea Cellular, Bharti Airtel, HCL Technologies, Tech Mahindra and Wipro were down between 0.23 per cent and 1.55 per cent. Nifty was trading 60.10 points up at 8,869.75
9.16 am: Sensex was trading 245.88 points up at 28777.99. DLF was trading 1.40 per cent up at Rs 152. NBCC was up 1.88 per cent at 249.20.
9.15 am: Domestic equity markets opened higher on Tuesday tracking mixed global cues. Sensex opened 99.16 points up at 28631.27, while Nifty 50 opened 43.05 points up at 8852.70.
