Benchmark indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty ended in green on Friday as report said that the Rajya Sabha will take up GST Bill for discussion next week amid good set of quarterly numbers. Sensex closed 92.72 points up at 27803.24, while Nifty closed 31.10 points up at 8,541.20.
Among the 51-components in the Nifty pack, Tata Motors DVR, Tata Motors, Power Grid, Zee Enertainment and Bharti Infratel gained 3.67 per cent, 3.18 per cent, 3.11 per cent, 2.54 per cent and 2.35 per cent, respectively. ACC, Bajaj Auto, State Bank of India, Bosch and Wipro plunged 1.93 per cent, 1.83 per cent, 0.97 per cent, 0.93 per cent and 0.90 per cent, respectively.
Barring the BSE IT index (down 0.26 per cent), rest all other sectoral indices ended in green. The BSE Power index, Metal, Capital Goods and Telecom gained 1.41 per cent, 1.34 per cent, 1.01 per cent and 0.91 per cent, respectively.
In scrip specific development, Bharat Financial Inclusion closed 10.58 per cent up at Rs 844.90 after its net profit surged 285.75 per cent to Rs 235.91 crore on 46.51 per cent rise in total income to Rs 414.11 crore in Q1 June 2016 against the corresponding quarter a year ago.
ADF Foods gained over 7 per cent after the company informed bourses that it has scheduled a board meeting on July 27, 2016, to consider share buyback proposal.
3.26 pm: Asian peers Nikkei, Hang Seng and Shanghai ended lower on Friday.
3.23 pm: Nava Bharat Ventures on Friday approved the issuance of bonus shares in the ratio of one bonus shares of Rs 2 for every one existing equity share. After the announcement, shares of the company plunged over 5 per cent intraday.
2.50 pm: Cairn India shares were trading 10.59 per cent up at Rs 195.30. Sensex was up 82.56 points at 27,793. Nifty was up 25.50 points at 8,535.
2.03 pm: Advanced Enzyme IPO oversubscribed 26.74 times on the last day of offer till 1.30 pm. Sensex was trading 11.06 points up at 27,721.
1.30 pm: Sensex was trading 59 points up at 27769. Nifty was up 23 points at 8,533. Motilal Oswal shares were trading 19.33 per cent up at Rs 501.
12.45 pm: Advanced Enzyme which hit capital markets on July 20 was oversubscribed by 768 per cent on the last day of offer till 12.30 pm. Sensex was trading 41 points up at 27,752.
11.54 am: In the 50-share index, Power Grid, Bharti Infratel, Idea Cellular, ZEEL and Aurobindo Pharma were up between 1.59 per cent and 2.87 per cent. On the other hand, Bosch, HUL, Bajaj Auto, Infosys and ACC were down between 0.85 per cent and 1.23 per cent. Nifty was trading 9.85 points up at 8,519.
11.25 am: Meanwhile, Biocon hit its new all-time high of Rs 771. The scrip was trading 9.34 per cent up at Rs 767.
11.15 am: Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers & Chemicals (GNFC) shares were trading 4.29 per cent down at Rs 163.90. Shares of the company slid despite the company reported 640.81 per cent rise in net profit figures at Rs 50.62 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2016 against net loss of Rs 9.36 crore in the corresponding quarter a year ago. However, gross sales of the company fell by 10.55 per cent year-on-year to Rs 945.44 crore.
10.26 am: Bharat Financial Inclusion shares were trading 7.58 per cent up at Rs 822. For the quarter ended June 30, 2016, the company reported net profit of Rs 235.91 crore, up 285.75 per cent, against Rs 61.16 crore in the corresponding quarter a year ago. Read more
10.09 am: Larsen & Toubro Infotech shares which listed on bourses on Thursday were trading 0.92 per cent up at Rs 704.05 on BSE. On NSE, the scrip was trading at Rs 704 on NSE.
9.59 am: Biocon shares jumped over 6 per cent in the early trade on Friday after the company reported 34.46 per cent jump in consolidated bottomline figures at Rs 166.60 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2016 against Rs 123.90 crore in the same quarter last year. Read more
9.30 am: ITC was trading 1.54 per cent up at Rs 254.50. The share price of the company jumped after it reported a jump of 10 per cent year-on-year in standalone net profit at Rs 2,385 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2016.
9.18 am: PVR was trading 2.54 per cent up at Rs 1120. Inox Leisure was trading 0.16 per cent up at Rs 253. Sensex was up 37 points at 27,747.
9.15 am: Sensex opened 11.20 points up at 27721. Nifty opened 9.55 points up at 8,519.
The BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty are likely to open on flat-to-cautious note on Friday tracking Nifty futures on the Singapore Stock Exchange (SGX Nifty) and weak global cues.
At 7.57 am (IST), SGX Nifty was trading 2 points up at 8,525.
Asian peers, Hang Seng, Nikkei and Shanghai were down by 0.34 per cent, 1.01 per cent and 0.42 per cent, respectively, in the morning trade.

On Wall Street, Dow Jones Industrial Average snapped 9-day winning streak on Thursday. The index closed 0.42 per cent down at 18,517.
Back home, the 30-share index Sensex fell by 205 points to 27,710.52 after earnings of Kotak Mahindra Bank and HDFC Bank disappointed the street.
Today, shares of ITC and Axis Bank will remain in focus. FMCG major ITC on Thursday reported an increase of 10 per cent in standalone net profit at Rs 2,385 crore for the first quarter ended June 30, 2016. It had posted a bottomline figures of Rs 2,166 crore during the April-June quarter a year ago.
Axis Bank will announce its quarterly results for the first quarter ended June 30, 2016.
