The global markets are trading on a lower note. The GIFT Nifty is trading 84 points, or 0.32%, lower at 25,957. Here are domestic as well as key global cues to watch before the market opens that include crude oil prices, FII and DII data, business groups that most affect, sectoral performance, etc.
Earlier on Monday, the NSE Nifty 50 closed the session 225 points or 0.86% lower at 25,960, while the BSE Sensex fell 610 points or 0.71% to close at 85,102.
Key global and domestic cues to know on December 09, 2025
Asia Markets
The Asian markets opened mostly lower on Tuesday morning, following the fall on Wall Street. Japan’s Nikkei 225 was down 0.29% while the broad-based Topix was 0.17% lower. South Korea’s Kospi slipped 0.32%, but the small-cap Kosdaq was 0.18% higher. Hong Kong Hang Seng index futures were at 25,763, nearly unchanged from the last close of 25,765.26.
US markets
The futures tied to US benchmarks were little changed despite US President Donald Trump approving the sale of Nvidia chips to China. Futures tied to the Dow Jones Industrial Average hovered slightly below the flatline. S&P futures rose less than 0.1%, while Nasdaq 100 futures added more than 0.1%.
Trump warns of new tariffs
The US President Donald Trump recently commented that he may bring in new tariffs on some agricultural imports, especially Indian rice and Canadian fertiliser. His remarks come at a time when the US is still stuck in long, difficult trade talks with both countries. According to American farmers, cheaper imports are making it hard for them to compete in the market. Trump said that he would “take care” of the “dumping of Indian rice into the US.”
US dollar
The US Dollar Index (DXY), which measures the dollar’s value against a basket of six foreign currencies, was trading 0.01% lower at 99.10 on Tuesday morning. The index evaluates the strength or weakness of the US dollar in comparison to major currencies. The basket contains currencies such as the British Pound, Euro, Swedish Krona, Japanese Yen, Swiss Franc, etc. The rupee depreciated 0.10% to close at 90.08 to the dollar on December 08.
Crude oil
The crude oil prices traded on a lower note on Tuesday morning. WTI crude prices were trading at $58.85, down by 0.05%, while Brent crude prices were trading at $62.48, a fall of 0.02%.
FII, DII data
Foreign institutional investors (FII) were the net sellers of shares worth Rs 655.59 crore. On the other hand, the Domestic institutional investors (DII) were the net buyers of shares worth Rs 2,542.49 crore on December 08, 2025, according to the provisional data available on the NSE.
Gold rate today
The rate for 24-carat gold today is Rs 1,29,820 per 10 grams, near its all-time high. The price of gold has fallen by 0.37% from yesterday. The 24 kt gold rate today in Delhi is Rs 1,29,590 per 10 grams. The 18-carat gold price today in India is Rs 97,365.
