In a truncated week, prices of thoor dal and sugar increased and gram dal decreased, while the rates of other commodities ruled steady at the wholesale foodgrains market here.
On the opening day, thoor dal was sharply up by Rs 500 per quintal to Rs 14,500 from its closing rate of Rs 14,000 to close the week at its opening rate.
Sugar opened the week marginally up by Rs 100 per quintal at Rs 3,400 from its previous rate of Rs 3,300 and finished the week at its opening rate.
Gram dal opened the week at Rs 6,200, less by Rs 200 per quintal from Rs 6,400 and closed the week at the same rate.
Urad dal (Rs 14,900), moong dal (Rs 10,000), wheat (Rs 3,000) maida (90 kg) (Rs 2,500) and sooji (90 kg) (Rs 3,200) ruled steady throughout the week.
It was a truncated week as the market remained closed on Friday and today on account of Pongal festival.
