BSE MidCap Index rallies to all-time high

The BSE MidCap Index rallied to its all-time high of 12911.61 on Wednesday moving up 0.69% or 87.91 points, even as the Sensex fell by 0.21% to close at 28,005.35.

Indian Bank was the biggest gainer as its shares ended the trading session at Rs 217, up around 6%. This was followed by Berger Paints whose shares were around 4% to close at Rs 240.45. Shares of other companies like Indian Hotels Co, Glaxosmithkline Pharmaceuticals and Reliance Communications were up between 3% and 4%.

On August 2, Indian bank reported a 42.77% rise in net profit at Rs 307.36 crore for the three months to June against Rs 215.28 crore in the corresponding quarter last year. Total income of the grew by 0.41 per cent to Rs 4,512.96 crore against Rs 4,494.54 crore in the same quarter last year. Berger Paints reported a 55% y-o-y growth in its net profit at Rs 120 crore for the three months to June, the stock has gained 25.23% so far in 2016.
At the other end of the spectrum, shares of JP Associates fell around 4% to close at Rs 10.56.
