Malaysia gears up for Super Sale

In addition to the existing shopping festivals during the year that include Mega Sale Carnival and Year End Sale, Malaysia has launched an exclusive shopping festival – Malaysia Super Sale – from March 1-31, 2016

The country is considered a “must-explore travel haven” along with some of the exclusive shopping experiences. In addition to the existing shopping festivals during the year that include Mega Sale Carnival and Year End Sale, Malaysia has launched an exclusive shopping festival – Malaysia Super Sale – from March 1-31, 2016. An official icon, Miss Shophiah, was unveiled to personify the shopping sentiment.

In addition to expansive 500 shopping malls in Malaysia, the country now has extended shopping zones that include Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman Heritage Shopping Zone, Bandar Utama/Damansara, Bandar Sunway and Subang Jaya in Selangor as well as George Town in Pulau Pinang, Johor Bahru in Johor, Melaka, Sabah and Sarawak.

Keeping in mind the needs of all age groups, the concept of experiential shopping has been launched, providing a complete shopping experience for the whole family. Another thing that is catching people’s attention is the Beanieplex – a movie theatre where one can lounge in bean bags and watch a movie.

Utama Shopping Centre in Selangor is one of the biggest malls in the world. Bukit Bintang is famous as the primary shopping district in Malaysia and boasts of eight shopping malls like the famous Pavilion, Suria KLCC, and more. The suburban areas like Damansara, Subang, Bangsar and others also offer rich shopping experiences, and Jonker Street in Malacca is good for antiques, textiles, foods, handicrafts and souvenirs. Malaysia also offers numerous duty-free outlets at many points of entry, including at airports and designated destinations such as the islands of Langkawi and Labuan.

The country’s The Tourist Refund Scheme (TRS) allows a traveller to claim a GST refund from an approved refund agent on the eligible goods purchased from an approved outlet when leaving Malaysia by air from one of the eight international airports in the scope of the TRS.
