Chowman, one of the leading fine dining Chinese restaurant chains in Kolkata plans to extend its footprints in other metros by 2017. Chowman is currently present in nine locations in and around Kolkata and will open three more outlets within the next four months. “In December 2015, we will be opening our first outlet in Mumbai and will expand with six outlets within 2016. From 2017 onwards, we will be launching in metros like New Delhi, Bengaluru and Pune and by the end of 2018, Chowman should be present in all the major cities of India,” said Debaditya Chaudhury, managing director, Chowman chain of restaurants.
Elaborating on plans to fund the future projects, Chaudhury said, “We are self funded and take support from national banks whenever required as of now. But we might look for private equity investors if needed by the end of 2017. By the end of 2020 we are targeting to open 50 outlets all across the country. We plan to introduce our own apps where you can place an order for home delivery from your smart-phones and will get the food delivered in any location around the city within 30 minutes. You can pay online or cash on delivery too.”
According to Chaudhury, Chowman is not just another Chinese restaurant. “My motto is to democratise Chinese fine dining- that is serving the best quality cuisine at an affordable price. The ambiance, crockery, cutlery, etc., at all our outlets are at par with any high-end restaurants. We use the same quality of raw materials that is used in five star hotels and also our chefs are the best in the industry. Besides, we import all our sauces from China and Thailand. The same cuisine is also available for home delivery with hygienic and unique packaging all over the city,” he stated.
