Looking to do something fun this Halloween, celebrate it at some of the spookiest places in India. HolidayIQ, suggests you travel to these haunted destinations to experience the best of what Halloween has to offer.

1. Bhangarh Fort, Rajasthan

If you have nerves of steel, take a peek into the Bhangarh Fort. It is recognised as the ‘most haunted place’ by the Government of India. A board has been put up by the Archeological Survey of India (ASI) on the fort gate that prohibits tourists from entering the fort area after sunset and before sunrise. In 1613 AD, Bhangarh Fort was built by Raja Madhu Singh.

2. Dumas Coast, Surat

This beach has many mystical stories. As per Hindu traditions, the human body is cremated after death. Localities here burn dead bodies on this beach. The beach has been an epicenter of horror stories. With dogs barking all night and voices being heard around the beach, locals believe the spot is haunted.

3. Shaniwar Wada, Pune

Full moon nights at Shaniwar Wada are believed to be haunted. Legend has it that the 13-year-old son of Narayana from the Peshwa Dynasty was brutally murdered by his relative. It is said that the boy kept running across the entire fort to save his life and kept shouting for help. On a full moon night, even today, it is believed that the boy is seen running and shouting for help.

4. Lambi Dehar Mines, Mussoorie

The mines are located in the outskirts of the town. Legend has it that in the early 1990s, due to an accident at the mines, thousands of workers lost their lives. The surrounding areas are abandoned and are believed to be haunted.

5. Tunnel no.33, Shimla

Nothing can be spookier than a haunted tunnel. Hundreds of horror stories have been associated with Shimla and it is said to have several haunted spots. Tunnel no.33 is one such place, which is said to be the abode of the ghost of British railway engineer, Colonel Barog. But he is said to be a friendly ghost.

6. Dow Hill, Kurseong

Dow Hill is said to be plagued with paranormal activities. The Victoria Boys High School is believed to be the place where spirits reside. Local residents say that the sound of footsteps emanating from the school can be heard even when the school is closed. It is claimed that there is one stretch, often called the Death Road, where some woodcutters have reported seeing a headless boy following them. He apparently walks down towards the road and then disappears into the woods. But Dow Hill does provide excellent views of the town.
