New York Fshion Week is one dream every aspiring and established model harbours for the very obvious reasons. The runway, the lights, the flashes- who wouldn't! Every face comes with an oozing panache that makes those 5 seconds of walk worth it. But when the runway moves ahead of the glitz and glamour to applaud for an acid attack survivor, the cheers become a little louder.

As Reshma opened the show for FTL Moda show, all eyes were on her but then so were the hands to laud the brave young girl who still stands strong despite facing the gravest of pain and torture. New York Fashion Week is one dream every aspiring and established model harbours for the very obvious reasons. The runway, the lights, the flashes- who wouldn’t! Every face comes with an oozing panache that makes those 5 seconds of walk worth it. But when the runway moves ahead of the glitz and glamour to applaud for an acid attack survivor, the cheers become a little louder.

That’s exactly what happened when 19-year-old Reshma Quereshi walked the runway. She was not displaying the designer or the attire, she was displaying a confidence borne by very few.

As Reshma opened the show for FTL Moda show, all eyes were on her but then so were the hands to laud the brave young girl who still stands strong despite facing the gravest of pain and torture. Reshma, an acid attack victim from Allahabad had been attacked by her estranged brother-in-law and two other men, leading to severe burns and loss of an eye. The incident that happened two years back tormented Reshma but what’s a warrior who cannot convert his scars to glory.

As she she strutted in her white full sleeves gown by Archana Kochhar with a tiara, the ecstasy on her face was unmatchable to any other supermodel face that followed. While the attack left her with a partially disfigured face, her spirits are not dampened at all. Qureshi, who is now associated with an Organisation ‘Make Love not Scars’, makes sure she is doing her bit to help similar victims.

Later, the star of the evening was seen happily posing for pictures with Bollywood star Sunny Leone.
