Zomato, one of India’s leading food delivery platforms, has unveiled two innovative services, ‘Pure Veg Mode’ and ‘Pure Veg Fleet,’ tailored to meet the dietary preferences of the country’s substantial vegetarian population.

The announcement came directly from Zomato’s founder and CEO, Deepinder Goyal, who took to X (formerly known as Twitter) on Tuesday to share the news with the public.

“In response to the dietary preferences of our customers, we are thrilled to launch ‘Pure Veg Mode’ and ‘Pure Veg Fleet’ on Zomato today, exclusively for those with a 100% vegetarian dietary choice,” stated Goyal.

Goyal underscored that the initiative stemmed from extensive feedback received from vegetarians nationwide, highlighting the importance of how their food is prepared and handled.

“With India boasting the world’s largest percentage of vegetarians, it’s crucial to address their needs. We’ve listened closely to their feedback, which often emphasizes the significance of cooking and handling practices,” explained Goyal.

The ‘Pure Veg Mode’ will feature a meticulously curated list of restaurants solely dedicated to preparing and serving vegetarian cuisine, omitting any establishments serving non-vegetarian items.

“Our ‘Pure Veg Mode’ showcases restaurants committed to offering exclusively vegetarian fare, ensuring a seamless experience for our vegetarian clientele,” Goyal elaborated on X.

However, Goyal emphasized that while the new services prioritize vegetarian offerings, they remain inclusive and do not discriminate based on religious or political affiliations.

“It’s important to clarify that our ‘Pure Veg Mode’ and ‘Pure Veg Fleet’ are not biased towards any religious or political preference,” assured Goyal.

Looking ahead, Goyal shared Zomato’s plans to introduce additional specialized fleets to meet the diverse needs of their customers.

“We envision expanding our fleet to accommodate various customer requirements. For instance, we’re preparing to launch a specialized cake delivery fleet equipped with hydraulic balancers to safeguard your cakes during transit,” Goyal revealed. The introduction of the special cake delivery fleet is slated to roll out within the next few weeks, further demonstrating Zomato’s commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction.
