Following Anurag Kashyap’s tweets criticizing Narendra Modi, yesteryear hero Shatrughan Sinha today castigated the ace filmmaker over his views on the Prime Minister. Anurag Kashyap, on Sunday, questioned PM Modi, over a series of tweets on the ban of Bollywood movies starring Pakistani actors. “I would rather ask my questions directly to the PM than trying to impress him by fake nationalism of banning ‘what puts you in news’,” the director tweeted.
The cinema owner’s body, Cinema Owners Exhibitors Association of India (COEAI), has decided not to screen Bollywood movies screening Pakistani actors, days before the release of Karan Johar’s ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’, which stars Pakistani actor Fawad Khan. The ban applies to single screen theatres in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka and Goa.
Criticizing the ban, Anurag Kashyap tweeted, “@narendramodi Sir you haven’t yet said sorry for your trip to meet the Pakistani PM.. It was dec 25th. Same time KJo was shooting ADHM? Why?”
Infuriated by Kashyap’s remarks on the Prime Minister, blaming him for banning movies, veteran actor and politician, Shatrughan Sinha lashed out at the director over his tweet saying, “Firstly, let me make it very clear that I am very fond of Anurag and his brother Abhinav. Having said that, I’d also like to say that I am extremely proud of our Prime Minister, the dashing dynamic action hero Narendra Modi Ji, for all the efforts that he has made in the past to bring peace between the two countries. Let’s not undermine our PM’s brave efforts just because at this moment those efforts seem to have come to a deadlock. Anurag and all those criticising the PM for his supposedly soft attitude to Pakistan should remember, political dynamics change rapidly. Today’s friendly neighbour becomes tomorrow’s sworn enemy , and vice versa.”
Shatrughan Sinha, also a part of the Bharatiya Janat Party (BJP), said that he was puzzled by the comparison drawn between the Prime Ministers visit to Pakistan and Karan Johar’s movie.
Recently, another maverick Bollywood filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar also slammed Kashyap for targetting PM Modi on the ADHM ban row.
