WhatsApp introduced a new font called FixedSys for the messenger. The font, generally used in Notepad in Windows, was earlier released in the beta version of the app.
In order to use the new font one has to type the word in the normal font and put the ` symbol three times before and after it.
For example, suppose we write the word “Font” in the WhatsApp messenger, we have to put it like ` ` `Font` ` ` to change it to the new font. The symbol is not the common apostrophe, instead it is the symbol right next to the ~ symbol on the keypad.
This change was first introduced in the Android Beta version v2.16.179. But the font works in the stable version v2.16.133.
The messenger app has release many new such features recently, apart from being able to use Bold, italics and strikethrough for the messages, users can quote someone’s message to reply. Using GIFs and video calling feature is also expected in the app soon.
WhatsApp recently said it now has 1 billion active users, and has been handling 100 million voice calls each day.
The Facebook owned, WhatsApp biggest and most controversial feature recently has been it’s end-to-end encryption on its chats, which is also expected to be launched in the Facebook messenger.
