Blood test for Alzheimer’s

A diagnostic centre chain in India has introduced an AI-integrated blood biomarker test to support early detection of Alzheimer’s disease. Mahajan Imaging and Labs said the approach combines a pTAU/ABeta1-42 blood biomarker test with structured PET and MRI imaging pathways, enabling diagnosis before severe cognitive symptoms appear. The method marks a shift from symptom-led assessment to biology-first diagnosis in Indian clinical practice. The blood biomarker test has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration and India’s Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation.

Elephant intrusion alert

The Kerala forest department is setting up an AI-driven elephant intrusion alert system to help prevent human-elephant conflict. The system will use AI-enabled cameras with on-site video analytics to detect elephant movement and send real-time alerts to forest staff and local response teams via mobile phones. Part of the state government’s ‘Mission Real-Time Monitoring’, the initiative focuses on wildlife conflict mitigation. Developed in partnership with Tata Motors, the system will be deployed in regions such as Chalakudy and Thekkady.

Google for artists

Google has announced a $2-million investment in the Sundance Institute to train over 100,000 artists in foundational artificial intelligence skills.

The funding will support the creation of an AI Literacy Alliance in collaboration with The Gotham and Film Independent. The initiative is part of Google’s AI Opportunity Fund and aims to provide community-driven AI education for creatives. The Sundance Institute, which supports independent storytelling and hosts the annual Sundance Film Festival in Utah, will lead the effort. The announcement comes amid ongoing discussions in the entertainment industry around rules governing AI training and usage.

AI song banned

A song streamed millions of times in Sweden has been barred from the country’s official music charts after being identified as an AI-generated creation. Titled I Know, You’re Not Mine — Jag vet, du är inte min, the folk-pop track topped Spotify’s Swedish Top 50 and amassed over five million streams in weeks. Investigations revealed the singer, Jacub, to be a digital entity with no public presence. Despite producers claiming the project involved human creators, IFPI Sweden ruled the song ineligible for national charts, citing its artificial origin, even as it remains popular on streaming platforms.

Eating AI art

An undergraduate student at the University of Alaska Fairbanks was arrested after destroying an AI-generated artwork by eating it during an exhibition. According to a newspaper report, Graham Granger consumed artwork created by MFA student Nick Dwyer as a form of protest against AI-generated art. University police stated the artwork was destroyed because it was AI-generated. Dwyer’s artist statement described his work as exploring identity and ‘AI psychosis’, a non-clinical term discussed in psychology literature.

Robot nails dance

A full-size humanoid robot named Adam has gained attention after performing the Charleston dance in a motion demonstration. Developed by Chinese robotics firm PNDbotics, the robot features 41 degrees of freedom and a high-torque, low-latency control system that enables precise, human-like movement. Engineers described the dance as a systems-level stress test rather than entertainment, showcasing advances in balance, timing, and coordination. The demonstration highlights progress in humanoid robotics toward expressive whole-body motion. PNDbotics recently introduced Adam-U Ultra, a humanoid robot equipped with a built-in VLA model for autonomous learning and manipulation.

AI film festival

Kerala is set to host what is being described as India’s first film festival exclusively dedicated to AI filmmaking in August. Organised by the School of Storytelling (SoS), an AI filmmaking institute based in Kochi, the three-day event will feature global submissions and an international jury. According to SoS founder Varun Ramesh, while major film festivals include AI sections, this is the first standalone AI film festival in India. He said AI films require significantly fewer resources than traditional productions. The festival aligns with the institute’s broader vision of promoting AI-driven storytelling and filmmaking education.

AI stylist

BeSpoke AI Stylist, a Hyderabad-based startup founded in 2025 by Neeraj Bansal, is developing an AI-powered fashion discovery and personal styling platform for online retail. The company aims to address challenges such as poor product relevance, fit issues, and high return rates in fashion e-commerce. Using fashion AI and personalisation technologies, the platform analyses user preferences, lifestyle, body type indicators, budget, occasions, and existing wardrobes to curate complete outfit recommendations.
