A projector can turn an ordinary wall into a cinema-sized screen, but the real question is how much you need to spend to get a good experience. The TecSox Prime HD and XElectron Techno Android 14 take two different approaches, with one focusing on a more flexible setup and the other packing in more smart features at a much lower price.
The TecSox Prime HD is the simpler of the two. It has a native 1280 x 720-pixel resolution, which is adequate for everyday movie watching, streaming and presentations. It supports screen mirroring, allowing content from a compatible smartphone or laptop to be displayed on the big screen. It also supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz wireless connectivity.
The projector offers 180-degree projection, giving users more freedom when deciding where to place it. Its auto keystone correction can automatically straighten the picture when the projector is not perfectly aligned with the wall. Focus, however, has to be adjusted manually.
Priced at ₹14,999, the TecSox Prime is aimed at users who want a large picture without a complicated setup. It could work well in a bedroom or living room, particularly where the projector needs to be moved or repositioned. The 720p resolution is usable for casual viewing, though buyers should not expect the sharpness of a Full HD television.
The XElectron Techno Android 14 offers more features at less than half the price, at ₹6,999. Its native resolution is also 1280 x 720 pixels, although it can play 1080p and 4K content. This does not mean it projects in native 4K; the actual projected image remains 720p. The projector’s biggest advantage is its smart functionality. It runs Android 14 and comes with built-in apps, while Wi-Fi and Bluetooth make it easier to connect other devices. Screen mirroring is also supported.
The projector is also easier to set up. Electric focus eliminates the need to adjust focus manually, while auto and 4D keystone correction help straighten the picture. The projector can also be rotated, giving users more flexibility in deciding where and how to project the image. There is a built-in speaker, so users can start watching movies without buying additional audio equipment. For a better movie experience, however, an external speaker would still be preferable.
Both projectors offer an affordable way to bring a larger-than-life viewing experience into the home. With a suitable projection surface and a reasonably dark room, they can make movies, shows and other content more engaging without requiring the space of a large television.
