Don’t have time to visit a doctor, or do you need an emergency solution to a medical problem? DocsApp is a smartphone application which connects patients to doctors via chat or calls within 30 minutes. This app has been declared as the best medical app of 2017 in the emerging apps category by Amazon in association with Facebook. The AWS mobility award is a prestigious award in the startups category, and it rewards the best innovative work in mobility and Internet of Things (IoT) in India. The award is presented by Amazon Web Services, in association with world’s biggest social media website Facebook and American venture capital firm, Sequoia Capital.
DocsApp has clocked more than one million downloads on the Google Android Play store. The company has claimed that it has the number one position in its category in the store, and it has been growing at a pace 25 percent (month-on-month) growth. On the app, specialist doctors are available round the clock. You can also order medicines and book lab tests using the app. The app has doctors in the following categories- General Medicine, Gynaecology, Psychiatry, Pregnancy Issues, Paediatrics, Dermatology, among others. You can just use the app to call or chat with one of the doctors, and they will reply to you within minutes.
DocsApp was launched in July 2015 and was founded by IIT Madras alumni Satish Kannan and Enbasekar D. It has received funds worth $2 million from Facebook angel investors Anand Rajaraman and Venky Harinarayanan, Japanese VC Rebright partners, GSF Accelerator, IITM Incubation Center and other top angels like Vijay Shekhar Sharma (Paytm), Anupam Mittal (Shaadi.com). The founders aim that the company will grow to a user base of 5 million patients by 2018.
The award, presented on June 1 this year, had in its jury- Anandmoy Roychowdhary, Director Technology, Sequoia Capital, Ravi Gururaj, Founder and CEO, Qikpod, and others. All the startups had to go through interviews before bagging the awards.
