OnePlus on Thursday became the latest company to join the foldable phone bandwagon with the launch of its first-ever OnePlus Open at a global event. The Open comes packed with impressive specs and features including a lighter weight and sleeker design than the other foldables in the market that are sure to give a tough fight to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 which was also launched not very long ago.

The Open and the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 are two of the most anticipated foldable smartphones of the year. Here is a point-by-point breakdown of all the differences between the two titans of the year that you should know. Take a look.

Display: The OnePlus Open features a larger 7.82-inch inner display and a 6.31-inch outer display, both of which are larger than the displays on the Galaxy Z Fold 5. The Open’s inner display also has a higher resolution of 2268 x 2440 pixels compared to the Z Fold 5’s 1812 x 2176 resolution. In addition, the Open’s inner display boasts a peak brightness of 2,800 nits, making it significantly brighter than the Z Fold 5’s 1,750 nits. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 features a 7.6-inch dynamic AMOLED 2X infinity flex Display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The cover display measures 6.2-inches.The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 carries an IPX8 rating for water resistance, whereas the Open has an IPX4 rating.

Processor and software: Both the OnePlus Open and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 bank on Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for power and processing. The Open comes with up to 16GB RAM whereas the Z Fold 5 comes with up to 12GB RAM. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 is available in 256GB, 512GB or 1TB of storage options, whereas the OnePlus Open is available only with 512GB storage. Both phones run custom software based on Android 13.

Battery and charging: The OnePlus Open comes with a bigger battery size of 4805mAh compared to 4400mAh in Z Fold 5. The OnePlus Open supports 67W fast charging, which is significantly faster than the 25W fast charging on the Galaxy Z Fold 5.

Camera: Both the phones come with triple rear cameras, a selfie shooter on the front and a selfie camera on the inner screen. Going deep into the specs, OnePlus Open offers a 48MP main camera, a 64MP telephoto and a 48MP ultrawide. In comparison, the Z Fold 5 offers a 50MP main, 12MP ultrawide and 10MP 3x telephoto.

Selfie camera: The OnePlus Open features a 20MP selfie camera and a 32MP selfie snapper on the cover. The Z Fold 5 has a 4MP under display selfie shooter and a 10MP cover camera.

Price: The OnePlus Open price in India is set at Rs 1,39,999 which is lower than the Galaxy Z Fold 5. The latter starts at Rs 1,64,999 in India.
