OnePlus is reportedly working on its next flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 16, and early leaks suggest that it could bring major improvements in battery, display and design. Information shared by tipsters on Weibo hints at upgrades in camera technology, display performance, and battery size. While OnePlus has not officially confirmed any details yet, the leaks indicate that the company is aiming high with its upcoming device.
Camera Upgrade
The biggest highlight of the OnePlus 16 could be its camera system. According to a Weibo post by tipster Digital Chat Station, the phone may feature a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera, which would be a major step up from the current 50-megapixel sensor used in the OnePlus 15. This larger sensor is expected to capture more detail, especially in zoom shots and low-light photography.
There are also claims that OnePlus may use camera hardware similar to Oppo’s upcoming Find N6 smartphone. This could include multiple high-resolution sensors and a special multispectral sensor to improve colour accuracy. If true, this move could help OnePlus compete better with brands known for strong camera performance.
Faster Display
The display is another area where OnePlus seems to be improving. The OnePlus 16 is said to come with a flat display supporting refresh rates above 200Hz. For comparison, the OnePlus 15 already offers a 165Hz screen, which is very fast.
A higher refresh rate can make scrolling, animations, and gaming feel smoother. However, most apps currently do not fully use such high refresh rates, so the real-world benefit will depend on how well OnePlus optimises the software.
Massive Battery
Battery life could be one of the OnePlus 16’s biggest strengths. Several leaks suggest the phone may pack a huge 9,000mAh battery, which is much larger than the battery found in most flagship smartphones today. If this is true, then this could deliver significantly longer usage on a single charge.
The phone is also expected to run on Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 processor, which should offer better performance and efficiency compared to the current generation.
Expected Launch And Price
Leaks and insider reports suggest that the OnePlus 16 may launch in early 2026. Considering the ongoing chip shortage, the OnePlus 16 is expected to launch in India with a starting price of Rs 81,999.
