Microsoft is taking a big leap in making Xbox support easier with the launch of an AI-powered chatbot called the Xbox Support Virtual Agent. The chatbot—which has no Copilot branding so far—which is available now is Microsoft’s latest effort to integrate artificial intelligence within its Xbox platform. The catch is that only Xbox Insiders in the US can access it at the time of writing.

Xbox Support Virtual Agent: What is it, how to use and more

The Xbox Support Virtual Agent is seemingly designed to assist players with resolving support-related gaming issues more efficiently. It is accessible at support.xbox.com.

According to Microsoft, this Support Virtual Agent can answer questions about Xbox consoles and game support, offering Xbox players a faster way to find solutions to more commonplace issues without having to wait for human assistance.

Xbox Insiders can find this feature on the “Contact us” page, where they’ll need to sign in with their Xbox Insider Program account to access the bot.

To use the Support Virtual Agent, players simply need to click “Ask a question.” The chatbot will then launch in a new browser window, where users can ask questions via text or voice. If the AI chatbot is unable to provide an answer, users can connect to a live support agent, too, during Xbox Support’s operating hours.

Microsoft has emphasised the importance of feedback, encouraging Xbox Insiders to provide input on their experience with the Support Virtual Agent. Insights gathered from this trial will be used to refine the chatbot before a broader rollout even if the official timeline remains unclear at this point.

The rollout aligns with Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella’s vision to integrate AI across all Microsoft divisions. Xbox has so far focused mainly on providing developer tools. However, the Support Virtual Agent suggests Microsoft is ready to bring AI directly into Xbox user experiences.

Cut to rival Sony, the company recently launched a new console called the PlayStation 5 Pro, with AI upscaling capabilities. The PS5 Pro marked the debut of Sony’s PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution technology which is claimed to add more detail and clarity to games on the fly using artificial intelligence.
