JioHotstar has introduced monthly subscription options across its Mobile, Super, and Premium tiers for new users. The updated pricing structure, effective from January 28, 2026, starts as low as Rs 79 per month, aiming to provide greater flexibility amid surging demand for large-screen viewing on connected TVs.

The move comes 11 months after the platform’s launch, during which JioHotstar has achieved over 1 billion downloads on Google Play and serves more than 450 million monthly active users in India. The service boasts a library of over 300,000 hours of content, spanning live sports, Bollywood and regional movies, originals, TV shows, kids’ programming, anime, and international titles, competing with Amazon Prime Video, Sony LIV, and Netflix in the local OTT content.

The revised plans retain quarterly and annual options while adding monthly billing for the first time:

Mobile Tier:

Prices: Rs 79/month, Rs 149/quarter, Rs 499/year
Features: Limited to 1 mobile device, ad-supported viewing. Hollywood content requires a separate add-on.

Super Tier

Prices: Rs 149/month, Rs 349/quarter, Rs 1,099/year
Features: Access on up to 2 devices, ad-supported. Hollywood content is included by default for new subscribers.

Premium Tier:

Price: Rs 299/month, Rs 699/quarter, Rs 2,199/year
Features: Access on up to 4 devices, ad-free (except for live sports and select live shows). Hollywood content is included by default for new subscribers.

Note that higher-tier quarterly and annual plans see price increases for new subscribers (e.g., Super annual from Rs 899 to Rs 1,099; Premium annual from Rs 1,499 to Rs 2,199), while Mobile pricing remains unchanged. Existing subscribers on auto-renewal will continue with their current plans, pricing, and benefits without any disruption.

Jio promises greater user benefits

In an official statement, JioHotstar explained, “The revised pricing aims to induce both mobile-first users and families streaming premium content on connected TVs, at the same time allowing them to choose plans based on how and where they watch.”

The company further noted that the framework supports deeper connected smart TV adoption, mobile-led content discovery, and ongoing investments in premium content and streaming technology. This reflects evolving viewer habits, with large-screen consumption showing explosive growth since the platform’s debut. The addition of monthly plans makes JioHotstar more accessible for casual viewers who prefer short-term commitments and avoid overpaying for unused periods.
