Redmi 4A vs Redmi 3S: Which is a better Xiaomi smartphone?

Xiaomi just launched its brand new budget smartphone, Xiaomi Redmi 4A which comes with the price tag of Rs 5,999. Following the launch of the hugely popular Redmi Note 4, the company rolled out its second big phone in the country in 2017. Meanwhile, Xiaomi also has another phone in the segment, the Redmi 3S and Redmi 3S Prime. While both the smartphones (Redmi 3S and Redmi 4A) are quite impressive in that range, each one score above another in different features. Xiaomi is known for rolling out amazing features at really affordable prices. So it is worth spending the Rs 1,000 extra for an older phone, or can you satisfied with the specifications that Xiaomi offers in its latest device.

In terms of specifications, with the Redmi 4A, the company is sticking with what it does best: Offering great specifications at a budget pricing and thus taking on the competition. Redmi 4A has the following specifications: a 5-inch HD display, 2GB RAM+16GB storage, which is expandable to 128GB via a microSD card. There’s a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor, a 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera. The battery on the Redmi 4A is 3120 mAh, non-removable, and the phone runs Android Marshmallow along with MIUI 8 on top of the device.

Meanwhile, the Redmi 3S features a premium metal body and a 5.0-inch HD screen. It weighs around 144 gms and is pretty thin. The phone has a 13-megapixel rear camera along with phase detection, auto focus and support of 1080 p video recording. The smartphone also supports expandable memory up to 128GB microSD cards and the Redmi 3S Prime additionally features ultra-fast phone unlocking with the fingerprint sensor, a 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. The biggest thing that the smartphone has is the behemoth of a battery, of 4100mAh.

Also, Redmi 3S Prime has a 5.0 inches IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display. It features a rear camera of 13 MP and f/2.0 and a front shooter of 5 MP and f/2.2. The phone runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor. The phone has a big battery of 4100 mAh battery. Targeting the sub-10K market category, Redmi 3S is priced at Rs 6,999 and the higher memory model Redmi 3S Prime with fingerprint sensor at Rs 8,999.

So which is the better choice? If battery is your main concern, the go for the Redmi 3S by shelling out Rs 1,000 more. But if your budget is limited to Rs 6,000 and around, go for the all new Xiaomi Redmi 4A smartphone as it appears to be the best in the segment. Similarly, if you can shell out a little more, at Rs 8,999 the Redmi 3S is a better device.
