Mistral- a Paris-based startup has launched Le Chat mobile AI assistant, in what looks like a strategic response to the skyrocketing popularity of China’s DeepSeek that topped the app store charts across many countries last week.
The new Le Chat mobile assistant, as claimed by its maker, aims to make your personal and professional life smoother. Available now for iOS and Android, with a private infrastructure version for businesses on cards, Le Chat offers advanced AI responses for free. It also has premium features available through paid tiers.
With Le Chat, Mistral eyes the rapidly growing AI assistant market, positioning it as a powerful alternative to established names like ChatGPT, Google Gemini or DeepSeek.
Key features of Le Chat
Le Chat uses Mistral’s powerful models to deliver answers at an impressive rate of up to 1000 words per second. The chat assistant provides answers by pulling from vast sources including web searches, social media, and journalism. The chat assistant also supports document uploads and image processing leveraging Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology. It allows users to upload files like PDFs, spreadsheets, and images for detailed analysis.
Le Chat has an Interpreter feature that may come handy for professionals. It allows users to run code, conduct scientific analysis, and more. Le Chat also creates images- powered by Black Forest Labs’ Flux Ultra model.
Pricing and tiers
Most of the features of Le Chat come with the free version. However, users can also access premium ones through paid tiers. The Pro tier of Le Chat starts at $14.99 per month. There is a team tier that is designed for collaborative work and an Enterprise tier which is coming soon for large organisations that require custom solutions.
Le Chat Vs DeepSeek and ChatGPT
One of the key areas where Le Chat could give hard time to its contemporaries is the speed. The chat assistant delivers responses at a lightening speed of 1,000 words per second. This may give it an edge in environments where rapid interactions are important.
Next is the data sources. Le Chat sources its responses from web searches, social media, and journalism. While DeepSeek and ChatGPT also pull data from wide-ranging sources, Le Chat’s specific integration of OCR technology and file uploads could help its stand out from the crowd here.
Le Chat’s affordable pricing structure starting at $14.99 per month for the Pro version could also give it an edge over ChatGPT. The latter’s pricing varies depending on the model, but its Pro version typically costs around $20/month for access to GPT-4, making Le Chat a potentially more viable option for some.
