The Xiaomi 14 Ultra was officially launched in India today, but you’ll have to wait for some more time to get it. It will only be available for grabs a month later, i.e., on April 12 though Xiaomi will offer a special “Xiaomi 14 Ultra reserve edition” three days before, on April 8, if you pre-book the device by paying a token amount of Rs 9,999. The Xiaomi 14 Ultra price in India is set at Rs 99,999 for a version with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.
The Xiaomi 14 Ultra India announcement was a well-kept secret until the last minute. No one saw it coming. Even before he started talking about the 14, Xiaomi India CMO Anuj Sharma announced that the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is coming to India. Then the company went on to “actually” announce both pricing and availability as well. This is the first Leica-powered ultra Xiaomi phone to launch in India after 2021’s Mi 11 Ultra.
Xiaomi calls it the “pinnacle of smartphone imagery.” It has a 50-megapixel Sony Lyt-900 primary sensor with a 23mm equivalent “stepless” variable aperture lens (f/1.63-f/4.0) with optical image stabilisation.
There are three more cameras in this phone including two zoom options: a 50-megapixel Sony IMX898 behind a 75mm f/1.8 for 3.2x and another 50-megapixel Sony IMX898 behind a 120mm f/2.5 periscope for 5x zoom. The former can focus from as close as 10cm, while the latter from 30cm.
Lastly, there is another 50-megapixel Sony IMX898 sensor behind a 12mm f/1.8 ultrawide. In all, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra gives you access to six different focal lengths in one device. The phone allows up to 8K@24fps and 4K@120fps video recording including 10-bit Dolby Vision HDR and 10-bit LOG. The front camera is a 32-megapixel (f/2.0).
The rest of the package includes a 6.73-inch 2K LTPO AMOLED display with up to 120Hz refresh rate, up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness and Dolby Vision playback support, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor and a 5,300mAh battery with 90W fast wired, 80W wireless, and 10W reverse wireless charging. It will come in black and white when it launches in India.
