Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has made the process the Aadhaar update process easier and faster with its new app. Prior to these changes the process of updating the mobile number linked to Aadhaar cards, editing name errors and updation of address was a tiresome process. However now using the app Aadhaar card holders will be able to modify their name, address, and mobile number online.
This digital system, will greatly help in eliminating the need for in-person visits to physical Aadhaar Seva Kendras. Along with ending the tiresome physical paperwork process involved. Importantly since the verification process of these updations is sensitive hence and therefore was reserved through offline methods. Yet the secure nature of the application now enables to do these changes from the comfort of your home.
Integrating Aadhaar Data in Goverment Databases
Aadhaar cards are a pivotal identification documents in India. It has been linked to a large number of government schemes and other identification documents like PAN Card. Although till now updating personal details on Aadhaar Cards, required visiting enrolment centres and presenting physical documents. However UIDAI’s new app intends to change that by integrating with existing government databases such as PAN, passport, and ration card records.
This integration will allow automatic verification of certain details, significantly reducing processing times. Moreover, utility bills like those for electricity or water will now be accepted as valid proof of address. Therefore expanding the list of eligible documents that are needed during the updation process.

Updating Name on the Aadhaar App
To update your name on the Aadhaar app, log in with your Aadhaar number and OTP. Go to Update Aadhaar Online, select Name, and upload the required supporting document. Review the details, pay the update fee, and submit the request. Track progress through the Update Status option.
Updating Mobile Number on the Aadhaar App
To update your mobile number, open the Aadhaar app and choose Update Aadhaar. Mobile number changes require face and OTP verification, so upload a selfie onto the app, provide the new number, complete biometrics, pay the fee, and track the update online.
Updating Address on the Aadhaar App
To update your address, log in to the Aadhaar app and select Update Address Online. Enter your new address exactly as it appears on your proof document, upload the document, and verify via OTP. After submission and payment, your request is processed. You can monitor the update using the app’s tracking feature.
