Happy Patel Khatarnak Jasoos, Vir Das’ directorial debut, is set to release on the big screen on Friday, January 16. With a guest appearance from Aamir Khan, and the much-awaited comeback of Imran Khan, the film also marks a reunion of the Delhi Belly team. Filmmaker Farah Khan stepped inside his home, in one of her recent vlogs, as they showed his minimalist home with ‘no decor’.
Vir Das, who’s extremely excited about his upcoming film, lives in a home that embodies his and his wife, Shivani’s, free spirit. Giving a tour to Farah Khan, the couple shared that it has been just a year since they moved in, after their 5-year stint in Goa. They also relocated with their adopted pet dogs, who were sunbathing on the terrace.
‘No decor and eclectic boho chic’ Vir Das’ Bandra home
Opening to a spacious living room, the Das household features a warmly lit house with low ceilings. With bold coloured couches, there are rugs that give a soothing welcome to the space. Loaded with wooden accents, one can spot cabinets and tables fitting in the space with perfect harmony. With minimal wall decor, there are several frames which Vir Das liked to describe as, “So there is no decor to his house, nothing matches…this is everything we love.

Khan, who has become a rather house connoisseur, added, “I love it. It’s very Boho. Eclectic and boho is the right word for it.” The humble space is complete with earthy tones, cosy nooks, and a homely vibe like no other. The simple furniture and open spaces add a breath of fresh air to the otherwise hustling city of Mumbai. The lived-in glow also comes from the magnitude of trinkets seen across the house, giving it character.
The decor is largely dominated by Indian textile, and Vir Das’ love for art. The interiors do not feel intentional, rather natural and a perfect fit for the star’s persona. The living room, proudly features a dedicated seat for their pets, a prominent part of the couples’ lives. The room also connects to a cosy dining space with a cute dining table for two. It is inviting, and the tactile spaces add texture and volume to the space.

There are floor-to-ceiling windows, and the simple curtains and plants add a touch of the nature to the otherwise closed space. The house is overall functional and quirky, all of which add a breathable layout to the space.

Farah Khan also walked through their expansive backyard, brimming with greenery, it is dotted with potted plants and is a lush space for parties. A perfect hang-out spot for the laidback couple, the homely decor is the only oomph the place needs.
‘We don’t live particularly fancy’
Sharing the post on X, Das shared an audience reaction to her vlog. The comment read, “Finally, a house that actually looks lived in, not like a magazine show house. They seem so humble and down to Earth.” Reacting to which he wrote, ” Farah Khan, whom I love deeply, came over to our house. Shivani and I are quite shy, and we don’t live particularly fancy. This made my lady very happy.”
While there were long discussions about Vir Das’ experience with dancing in an item song choreographed by Farah Khan, the netizens praised the debut director’s imperfectly perfect home.
