Famously known to play the female lead in movies like Dhoom, Hungama, Golmaal, Phir Hera Pheri, and Johnny Gaddar, she once ruled the silver screen in the early 2000s. From starring alongside Dhurandhar’s Akshaye Khanna to being a billboard star, she is Rimi Sen. However, as the era of Bollywood took a new turn with younger stars in 2010, she quickly faded away from the screen, stepping away from the Bollywood spotlight.
Her withdrawal from the industry landed her in Dubai to become a real estate agent in the Middle East. From being one of the most popular movie stars in India to becoming a real estate player, Sen once featured alongside Aamir Khan in a popular Coca-Cola advert and shared prominent screen space with Salman Khan in ‘Baghbaan’ and ‘Kyun Ki’. She recently opened up about welcoming this transition. Speaking to Buildcaps Real Estate LLC, Sen revealed her share of praises for Dubai, and her happiness with her move, but called out some concerns she had with India.
Dubai vs India: ‘They think about everyone’
In the media interaction, Sen shared, “Dubai is very welcoming, which is why 95% of the population here consists of expatriates, while the rest are Emiratis. Dubai has welcomed everyone warmly. There are mosques here, and there are temples too. They think about everyone, and the city’s major focus is on how to make people’s lives better, easier, and more comfortable.”
Speaking about the real estate market in Dubai, the Dhoom actress shared, “The real estate market here functions smoothly because there is discipline. You have to work only with agents and agencies. Developers do their work, agencies do their part, there is a proper system in place.”
However, she even spoke up about This is something we don’t really see in our country, because the government keeps changing policies overnight, making people’s lives more difficult. There are thousands of taxes, endless complications, and it is no longer a business-friendly nation.” She even commented on how Indians generally view real estate agents, as compared to their image of being at par with ‘financial consultants’ in Dubai. She remarked, “In India, if you ask for two months’ brokerage, people look at you as if you have committed a crime.”
Rimi Sen on looking ‘unrecognisable’
Amid this conversation, she also addressed how viral Internet claims made her unrecognisable after some social media clips resurfaced, comparing her old pictures. Sen was not shy or secretive about admitting that she had gotten plastic surgery done.
She addressed the rumours and said, “If people feel that I have had plastic surgery, and if they feel that in a good way, then it’s very good for me. Without even getting plastic surgery done, people are still talking. I have only had fillers, Botox, and PRP treatment done, nothing else.” She even expressed her plans of getting a cosmetic facelift done, but only after she crosses the age of 50. She felt people only needed one after a certain age, or if they are a fugitive, she quipped. However, there were no anecdotes that denied her having work done for her vanity.
