Veteran K-drama star Lee Moon Soo has sadly passed away at the age of 76, as per K-media outlet The Chosun Daily’s reportage . On Saturday, the Korea Theatre Actors Association delivered the heartbreaking news, merely days after senior actor Lee Soon Jae also left for the heavenly abode.
The late actor prominently appeared in the popular K-drama Signal, which also starred fellow beloved actors Kim Hye Soo and Lee Je Hoon. Lee was reportedly battling lung cancer, a disease he was diagnosed with in 2022.

According to MBC News, Lee Moon Soo’s funeral will be held in Room 2 of the Hanyang University Hospital Funeral Hall, Seoul, at 8:20 am KST on December 1. Thereafter, he is expected to be laid to rest at the burial site in Eden Memorial Park.

Born on March 3, 1949, Yangpyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do, Lee initially worked as a civil servant. He eventually found his calling, as he joined the National Theatre Company in 1989, prompting his participation in stage plays like “Death of a Salesman,” “1984,” and “King Lear.”
As a graduate of Seoul Institute of the Arts, he is survived by his wife, Yoon Se Sook, son Lee Ju Mong and daughter-in-law Lee Young Hwa, according to Korea JoongAng Daily.

In addition to making his presence felt in Signal, he also appeared in shows like Rookie Cops (Kang Daniel Chae Soo Bin), Ghost Doctor (Rain, Kim Beom), School 2021 (Kim Yo Han, Choo Young Woo), Navillera (Song Kang), and Goblin aka Guardian: The Lonely and Great God (Gong Yoo, Kim Go Eun, Lee Dong Wook), among others. Lee notably boasted impressive acting credits, coming forth in support or guest roles across countless popular drama titles over the years, as per his MyDramaList profile.
In the drama Signal, he played Jo Jin Woong’s (one of the three leading actors) father. As per his MyDramaList profile, his final drama appearance was captured in the 2022 show called Unicorn.
The 2010 SBS drama Daemul and the film Hello Ghost, which released that same year, especially helped boost Lee’s recognition. That particular year undoubtedly brought him immense success, as 2010 was also when he was honoured with a Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism commendation for his contributions to his craft, which spanned various forms of entertainment – stage plays, TV and films.
