In the glitzy world of Bollywood, where massive budgets and superstar casts usually dictate success, small, content-driven movies often find it hard to get enough screens or footfall. However, every so often, a film relies on a solid script and powerhouse performances to find its own space at the box office. That is exactly what is happening with Vadh 2, the thriller starring veterans Sanjay Mishra and Neena Gupta.

Despite being released along the war epic Border 2 and the action-packed Mardaani 3, this gritty sequel has managed to hold its own during its opening weekend.

Vadh 2 Box Office Collection

The film had a quiet start, bringing in roughly Rs 50 lakh on its opening Friday. However, as positive word-of-mouth began to spread, the numbers saw a healthy jump. Saturday earnings rose to an estimated Rs 71 lakh, allowing the movie to cross the Rs 1 crore milestone in just 48 hours. Currently, reports suggest the film has raked in an India net collection of approximately Rs 1.22 crore.

Vadh 2 outshines the original

While these figures might seem small compared to typical blockbusters, they represent a major win for the franchise. The first Vadh, released back in 2022, struggled to make a mark and finished its entire theatrical run at the Rs 1 crore mark. The sequel has managed to bypass that total in just two days, proving there is a growing audience for intense, character-led thrillers.

Vadh 2: Story, cast and more

Directed by Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Vadh 2 brings together a talented ensemble including Kumud Mishra and Yogita Bihani. The story follows a retired prison guard (Sanjay Mishra) and a soon-to-be-released inmate (Neena Gupta) as they navigate a dark moral maze. With Kumud Mishra playing a jail superintendent caught in a web of lies, the film explores the blurred lines between justice and revenge.

With Vadh 2 outperforming more than the original, it shows that even in an era of big spectacles, a well-told story can still find its voice.
