Prabhas’ latest venture into the horror-comedy genre, The Raja Saab, has completed its first weekend with a mix of record-breaking highs and now struggling at the box office to maintain the momentum. While the film started with a massive bang, it has found it difficult to maintain the collections over the following days. Despite these fluctuating numbers, the Maruthi directorial managed to cross the Rs 150 crore milestone at the worldwide box office within just three days, proving once again the immense drawing power of its lead star.
The Raja Saab box office collection in Day 3
The film kicked off its theatrical run on Friday with a staggering Rs 100 crore worldwide gross, marking a strong start despite being one of Prabhas’ lower openings in the post-pandemic era. However, the initial euphoria cooled off quickly as the weekend progressed. On Saturday, the film saw a sharp 51 per cent drop in domestic collections, and the downward trend continued into Sunday with a further 20 per cent dip.
On its third day, the film earned approximately Rs 19.10 crore net in India across all languages, bringing the total three-day domestic net collection to Rs 108 crore, which equates to roughly Rs 130 crore in gross earnings.
Performance and box office collections across languages
The performance across different regions shows a heavy reliance on the Telugu market, which contributed Rs 91 crore to the net total. The Hindi version added about Rs 15.75 crore, while the Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam versions saw a much quieter response, combining for just over Rs 1 crore. Overseas, the film has fared reasonably well, particularly in the United States, pushing its total international earnings past the $3 million mark. Collectively, the global three-day haul now stands at a respectable Rs 158 crore gross.
The Raja Saab outperforms several recent big-budget Telugu releases
Even with the dip in daily earnings, The Raja Saab has already managed to outperform several recent big-budget Telugu releases. Its current total has pushed it past Balakrishna’s Akhanda 2, which earned over Rs 128 crore, and Mirai, which grossed around Rs 150 crore. While industry experts expect a significant drop on Monday as the work week begins, the film has a major opportunity to recover on Wednesday.
Future box office predictions
The Sankranti holiday typically brings a massive surge in theaters, and trade analysts expect the film to cross the Rs 200 crore mark by the end of the festive period.
About The Raja Saab
Directed by Maruthi, The Raja Saab marks a significant shift for Prabhas, who has spent the last decade focused on action movies. This film marks his return to the “family entertainer” space, and many fans have celebrated what they call the return of “Vintage Prabhas.” Alongside Prabhas, the film has a strong cast including Sanjay Dutt, Malavika Mohanan, and Boman Irani. Although critics have been largely lukewarm toward the plot, the film’s ability to pull in audiences during a competitive holiday window remains its biggest strength.
