Thamma release date: Diwali 2025 brings with it the newest horror-comedy, Thamma and early Halloween celebrations in Bollywood. Starring one of the biggest names in the industry, the film features Ayushmann Khurrana, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Rashmika Mandanna, and Paresh Rawal. Carrying on the Maddock Films’ comic supernatural universe forward, the Thamma cast gave a quick sneak peek into the upcoming film at the Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan.

Hosting a talk show, the promotional event gave the audience great insight into what went behind making the film. Nawazuddin Siddiqui, known for his eccentric and intense roles, the actor has played everything from a serial killer to a vampire, now. Speaking about the filming in the dark jungles of Ooty, the cast made their debut in this horror-comedy genre. However, Paresh Rawal, the Bollywood legend, made his mark with Akshay Kumar’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007).

How Siddiqui prepared for the film

Responding to the question on how he prepared for the role of a vampire, Siddiqui got candid about a tip he received from Thamma’s director, Aditya Sarpotdar. He revealed that the tip he received was, “Pehle apna khoon peena shuru karo, uske baad doosre ka peeyo [First drink your own blood, then others].” Implying that he really needed to dive deep into the role and embody vampire-like traits. Not only did this have the audience in splits, but he added, “Yeh mere character ki brief thi [This was the brief for my character].”

“Jab mai set par aaya, sabka khoon pee-pee ke aaya tha [When I reached the set, I was prepared],” he jokingly added. He then went on to praise the directors and how they guided every crew member with perfection. Interestingly, he revealed that when the shoot for Thamma wrapped up, he picked up a unique character trait from the role of the vampire that he played. Siddiqui revealed that whenever he got angry, he used to pretend he was a vampire and acted as though he would fang the other person, making a sound he developed for the character.

Ayushmann’s action debut

While Ayushmann Khurrana has appeared in an action film, ‘Action Hero’, the Thamma hero felt that he hadn’t done so much acting before. Interestingly, he remarked during the same event, “Dinesh Vijan ne pata nhi kyu aise socha ki ‘Chalo isse peetate hai'[I don’t know why Dinesh Vijan thought, ‘let’s beat him up’]”

From the trailer, Khurrana’s character, Alok Goyal, faces a lot of hardships. From being thrown around in the jungles of Ooty to jumping off cliffs, he remarked, “Bahut maar khaayi hai iss picture ke andar [I’ve been beaten up a lot in this film]”. Similarly, for Rashmika, she too appeared in a much more dynamic role, as compared to her other films and had liberty over her movements including action and running.
