Tere Ishk Mein Box Office Collection Day 4: Aanand L Rai’s new romantic drama Tere Ishk Mein, starring Dhanush and Kriti Sanon, saw a sharp fall in its first Monday numbers at the domestic box office. The film, which opened strongly and maintained double-digit collections through its first weekend, dropped by more than 50 per cent as the work week began. After comfortably earning over Rs 15 crore every day from Friday to Sunday, the film’s Monday figure slipped to single digits, signalling the film’s first major slowdown.

Massive decline in box office collection on day 4

On Day 4, Tere Ishk Mein collected Rs 8.25 crore in India, which shows that Monday blues hit the movie hard. The collections dropped from its Day 3 earnings of Rs 19 crore. Sunday remained the film’s highest-earning day so far, showing a clear jump from Saturday’s Rs 17 crore and Friday’s opening collection of Rs 16 crore. The strong weekend trend had suggested a solid first week, but the Monday crash has now brought a more realistic picture of the film’s trajectory.

Four-day total crosses Rs 60 crore

According to early estimates by Sacnilk, the film’s total collection in India over the first four days stands at Rs 60.25 crore. A major share of this comes from the original Hindi version, which alone has contributed close to Rs 58 crore. The Tamil dubbed version, despite Dhanush’s stardom and AR Rahman’s presence in the music department, has managed just around Rs 2.25 crore in the same period. The gap between the two versions indicates that the film’s appeal remains largely concentrated in the Hindi market.

Surpasses Raanjhanaa and other recent films

With its current numbers, Tere Ishk Mein has already crossed the lifetime domestic business of its spiritual predecessor Raanjhanaa, released in 2013. The earlier film, headlined by Dhanush and Sonam Kapoor and also directed by Aanand L Rai, ended its theatrical run at Rs 60.22 crore after eight weeks. Rai and Dhanush also collaborated on Atrangi Re in 2021, but that film skipped theatres due to the pandemic and was released directly on streaming.

The new film has also gone past Rai’s last theatrical release Raksha Bandhan (2022), which earned Rs 48.63 crore, and overtaken Dhanush’s recent Tamil directorial Idli Kadai, which made Rs 50.48 crore across Tamil and Telugu versions. However, it still has a considerable distance to cover before beating Kriti Sanon’s last theatrical hit Crew, which finished at Rs 81.70 crore.

Gustaakh Ishq left far behind

Tere Ishk Mein has also overshadowed its current competition in theatres. Vibhu Puri’s romantic drama Gustaakh Ishq, starring Vijay Varma and Fatima Sana Shaikh, has struggled to stay afloat with a total of only Rs 1.36 crore in four days. With three more weekdays before the arrival of fresh competition, Tere Ishk Mein has a narrow window to improve its first-week tally. The film will face a new challenge on Friday with the release of Aditya Dhar’s action entertainer Dhurandhar, featuring Ranveer Singh.

Reuniting the Raanjhanaa team

Set in what the makers describe as “the world of Raanjhanaa,” Tere Ishk Mein brings back the familiar creative team of Rai, Dhanush, AR Rahman, and writer Himanshu Sharma. Backed by Colour Yellow Productions, the film marks the latest chapter in Rai and Dhanush’s long-standing collaboration and continues their shared journey in the romantic drama space.
