O’ Romeo box office collection day 1: Shahid Kapoor returns to his macho avatar in his comeback collaboration with Vishal Bharadwaj’s ‘O’Romeo’. Released today on the big screen, O’Romeo brings Kapoor with a fiery comeback as a tattooed underworld don. Reportedly based on the real-life stories of gangsters Husaain Ustara and his rivalry with Dawood Ibrahim, Shahid Kapoor’s O’Romeo also features Tripti Dimri, Tamannaah Bhatia, Nana Patekar, Vikrant Massey, Disha Patani, and Avinash Tiwary.
With day zero collections nearing Rs 3.5 crore, O’Romeo has managed to gross a healthy amount on its opening day. While the Bollywood box office has not recovered since Ranveer Singh’s mega blockbuster Dhurandhar, Sunny Deol’s Border 2 briefly managed to break the dominion. But Kapoor’s O’Romeo does give stiff competition to Neena Gupta and Sanjay Mishra’s horror-drama Vadh 2.
O’ Romeo day 1 box office collection
As per early estimates from Sacnilk, O’Romeo has collected a little above Rs 8 crore so far. Including the Rs 3.3 crore advance booking numbers, O’Romeo has managed to cross the Rs 10 crore threshold.
However, the occupancy rate has been low in the morning shows, with the Shahid Kapoor starrer filling only 8 per cent of seats on Friday morning. O’Romeo has over 3000 shows scheduled in India, but the overall occupancy remained below 20 per cent.
While the budget for O’Romeo sits at a substantial Rs 75-80 crore, a huge chunk of that investment went straight into the star-studded ensemble. Topping the payroll is Shahid Kapoor, who reportedly took home a massive Rs 40 crore, half the film’s entire budget. Supporting him are Avinash Tiwary and Tripti Dimri, who earned Rs 7 crore and Rs 6 crore respectively, for their pivotal roles.
The cast is rounded out by veteran actor Nana Patekar, who charged Rs 4 crore, and Disha Patani, who received Rs 2 crore for her performance. With the film currently eyeing the prestigious Rs 100 crore club, these high-stakes salaries reflect the producers’ confidence in their lead actors to pull in a massive audience and deliver a definitive box office hit after Dhurandhar.
