Shahid Kapoor‘s O’Romeo trailer is out and while his menacing new avatar in Vishal Bharadwaj’s latest is grabbing attention, it’s his toned physique at 44 that’s turning heads.

The actor’s daily routine holds the secrets to his lean frame and high energy levels. Preferring consistency over intensity, fitness for Shahid is an everyday routine which is a mix of functional training, strength work, and mobility exercises to keep him agile and injury-free, he told Indian Express in an interview.

Why Shahid Kapoor keeps his meals small and clean

A sucker for simple home-cooked meals, Shahid keeps his portions small and his diet clean that helps him feel light and steady. Following a mindful eating pattern instead of a restrictive diet, the actor doesn’t shy away from enjoying comfort food once in a while.

“Instead of weighing everything I eat, I prefer smaller, frequent meals that keep me feeling light and steady,” he says.

“I try to eat clean and stay disciplined, but I am not extreme about it. I have been a vegetarian, so my meals naturally stay balanced — plenty of greens, vegetables, and pulses,” the actor told IE.

What’s Shahid Kapoor’s favourite morning ritual?

Shahid’s morning rituals say a lot about him. Keeping it ‘simple and grounded’, the actor begins his day with a short breathing exercise that wakes up his system and “helps him ease into the day,” he told the outlet.

Waking up early on working days gives Shahid an opportunity to spend quality time with his family and also get enough time to work out and get ready.

“If I’m working, I train early in the morning on an empty stomach, so I ensure to wake up at least three-and-a-half hours before I have to be on set. That gives me enough time to work out, get ready, and spend a few quiet moments with my family,” the actor added.

Why Shahid emphasises on quality sleep

On his sleep routine, Shahid says he tries to get six hours of shut-eye on most days, depending on his schedule. The actor considers ‘good rest’ an important component of overall well-being.

“Sleep is honestly one of the most underrated parts of staying balanced. I try to get about six hours on most days, though it really depends on my shoot schedule. When I’m working back-to-back, I get a little less done, but I always make it a point to catch up whenever I can. Good rest makes a huge difference in how you show up — not just physically, but mentally, too,” the actor told Indian Express.

It’s clear that for Shahid staying fit at 44 isn’t about extremes or shortcuts, but a consistent routine that’s easy to follow and draw inspiration from.
