Michael, the musical biopic on the ‘King of Pop’, Michael Jackson, is faring well at the global box office. Set to be one of the biggest Hollywood releases so far, it is close to the much-awaited sequel of the Meryl Streep-Anne Hathaway starrer ‘The Devil Wears Prada’.
Starring Jaafar Jackson, who made his Met Gala debut this year and is the nephew of the late pop star, has received critical acclaim for his performance. As Michael is now tracking to become the first movie since ‘Weapons’ to retake the number 1 spot in the US, it currently ranks fourth globally.
So far, Michael has collected over Rs 5800 crore globally, beating the Dhurandhar franchise by a far mark, trailing behind The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, Project Hail Mary, and Pegasus 3.

The ‘King of Pop’ biopic has grossed $611.7 million worldwide. Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt’s ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2‘ remains in the top five with a worldwide collection of $443.2 million (nearly Rs 4244 crore), according to Box Office Mojo.
In fact, the global industry tracker revealed that Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge, an action-packed spy thriller, ranked 12 globally after collecting $152.9 million worldwide.
Overall, Michael has collected over $250 million in North America, with an overseas gross of $358 million. On May 13, Box Office Mojo reported a collection of $3,325,674, while The Devil Wears Prada 2 recorded $3,251,137, down by 29.8% and 45.2% respectively from last week in the US.
Over on X (formerly Twitter), Global Box Office predicted that Michael will pull in another $25 million during its fourth weekend. Even weeks into its run, the King of Pop’s biopic is holding strong, comfortably ranking among the top 10 domestic openings of the year. The film is doing especially well in India, where it has already raked in Rs 67 crore (per Sacnilk)—a whopping 42% of its entire global haul so far. Box office numbers spiked over the weekends, with the first Saturday clearing over ₹5 crore and the second weekend maintaining momentum at just over Rs 7 crore.
Michael immortalises the journey of Michael Jackson from the rise of Jackson Five to becoming one of the biggest artists in the world. Starring Miles Teller, Colman Domingo, Juliano Valdi, and Nia Ling, the story released worldwide on April 24 and has since then become a sensation like no other.
