Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar has made huge waves at the box office after soaring past the Rs 50 crore mark just two days after release. As it aims to cross Rs 100 crore globally, the much-awaited spy thriller comes from the maker of URI: The Surgical Strike, Aditya Dhar. Shooting to fame after his directorial debut, he received a generous amount of praise for his nationalist and patriotic movies.

As the buzz around Dhurandhar’s post-credit scene grows louder, the Internet cannot help but link it to Dhar’s previous action-thrillers. The dialogue ‘Ghar mei ghus kar marenge’ added fuel to the rumours as fans saw it as a subtle nod to the underlying theme.

Is there a Dhurandhar-Uri link?

The first easter egg several members of the audience noted was the character with the name ‘Jaskirat Singh Rangi’. Also briefly mentioned in Uri, Yami Gautam‘s character Seerat Kaur had a husband named Major Jaskirat Singh Rangi. In the film, he was mentioned to have been dead, and hence, was never shown on screen.

In Dhurandhar, however, Ranveer Singh who works under the alias Hamza Ali Mazari, turns out to be named Rangi. Several reports suggest that this is a deliberate attempt by Aditya Dhar to link the franchise. Fans on the Internet speculate Ranveer’s Jaskirat could be the same man whose death is referenced in Uri, effectively turning Uri into a kind of “sequel in time” to Dhurandhar or vice versa, depending on the chronology.

In fact, towards the end, there was an overt announcement of a Dhurandhar sequel. The word ‘Revenge’ appeared on screen – scheduled for a March 2026 release.

Questioning the timeline: Dhurandhar vs Uri

Dhurandhar’s plot unravels by acknowledging the IC-814 hijack, the Parliament attack, and the early 2000s Karachi operations. But, Uri is et in 2016, based on the surgical strike carried out by the Indian Army. It boils down to determining whether Dhurandhar is the origin story of Jaskirat Singh Rangi, who was on a covert mission in Karachi. However, it was just an attempt to foster conversation around the film.
