Catherine O’Hara death: Popularly known for her performance in Holiday classic Home Alone, Catherine O’Hara has passed away at the age of 71. Remembered for her renaissance role in ‘Schitt’s Creek’, she breathed her last in her Los Angeles home in the Bentwood area. Winner of the Emmy Award for her work in the Netflix series, she was last seen opposite Seth Rogen in ‘The Studio.’ This role received an Emmy nomination, too.

Born in Toronto, Catherine O’Hara is survived by her husband, Bo Welch, who is a production designer, and two sons, Matthew and Luke. She tied the knot with Welch in 1988 on the set of ‘Beetlejuice’.

Catherine O’Hara cause of death, last appearance

While the exact reason for Catherine O’Hara’s death is unknown, reports suggest that she passed away due to a ‘brief illness’. While her family has not issued a direct statement, CAA confirmed the news without specifying any cause. In fact, she had skipped the Golden Globes, held earlier this month, citing health reasons, despite the nomination for ‘The Studio’.

She was last seen in October 2025, for her role in the ‘John Candy: I Like Me’ documentary. Fans and netizens claimed that she looked rather ‘bleak’ during her appearance at the Emmys 2025; however, there were no such reports of a prolonged long-term illness.
