This week’s OTT slate is a busy one, with a big Bollywood ensemble comedy, a pan-South romantic entertainer and a Malayalam crime thriller all making their streaming debuts.

Netflix, JioHotstar, Prime Video, ZEE5 and SonyLIV all have new titles landing between August 17 and August 21, giving viewers plenty to line up for the weekend.

The search term “OTT releases this week” is itself trending on Google, clocking over 20,000 searches and a 1,000% spike in search volume, as viewers scramble to keep track of the packed line-up.

Welcome to the Jungle

Platform: JioHotstar Release date: August 21

Welcome to the Jungle is the third instalment in the Welcome franchise, directed by Ahmed Khan. The action-comedy stars Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Paresh Rawal, Sanjay Dutt, Disha Patani, and Jacqueline Fernandez. It follows a hapless film crew whose jungle shoot spirals into chaos after they run into real terrorists. The film had its theatrical run in June before making its digital debut this week.

Pyaar Prema Kalyanam

Platform: Netflix Release date: August 21

Directed by Elan, this Tamil romantic family entertainer stars Saanvee Megghana and gives familiar marriage-and-relationship themes a contemporary spin. The film is streaming in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam, making it accessible to audiences across language markets from day one.

Jana Nayagan

Platform: ZEE5 Release date: August 21

One of the biggest Tamil titles to arrive on OTT this week, Jana Nayagan lands on ZEE5 as a major pan-Indian release, adding a high-profile action entry to the weekend watchlist.

Clean Up Company

Platform: Prime Video Release date: August 21

This English-language title joins Prime Video’s slate this week, adding an international pick to the mix for subscribers looking beyond Hindi and South Indian content.

Unmadham

Platform: SonyLIV Release date: August 21

A Malayalam crime and psychological thriller starring Kunchacko Boban, Lijomol Jose and Siddique, Unmadham had its theatrical release on July 31 before streaming on SonyLIV this week. The film also carries a Telugu dub for wider reach.

Snakes 5: Monster City

This DC superhero series follows Hal Jordan and John Stewart as they investigate a mysterious murder, and stars Aaron Pierre, Kyle Chandler and Nathan Fillion. It premiered on HBO Max in the US on August 16, arriving on JioHotstar for Indian audiences a day later.
