Hollywood’s awards season officially kicks into high gear tonight as the 83rd Annual Golden Globe Awards return to the Beverly Hilton. Often called ‘Hollywood’s Biggest Party,’ the ceremony remains a critical barometer for the Oscars, celebrating the best in both film and television.

This year’s event has a few historic firsts, including the introduction of a dedicated category for Best Podcast, acknowledging the medium’s massive cultural impact. The ceremony also follows the inaugural ‘Golden Eve’ primetime special, which aired earlier this week to honor career achievement winners away from the main telecast’s time constraints.

How to watch and who is hosting

The 83rd Golden Globes will air live tonight, Sunday, January 11, 2026, starting at 8:00 PM ET / 5:00 PM PT. Viewers in the United States can catch the broadcast on CBS or stream it live via Paramount+. International audiences, including those in India, can stream the event on Lionsgate Play starting at 6:30 AM IST on Monday, January 12.

Comedian Nikki Glaser returns to the stage as host for the second year in a row. Glaser, who made history last year as the first woman to host the show solo, earned widespread praise for her sharp, “bold yet playful” monologue. Producers are betting on her ability to keep the room lively while delivering the biting wit that has become a Golden Globes staple.

Which film leads the nominations?

The film categories are dominated by Paul Thomas Anderson’s ‘One Battle After Another,’ which leads the pack with nine nominations. The movie, which tells the story of a former revolutionary facing his past, is the most favourite for Best Motion Picture (Musical or Comedy) and Best Director.

Hot on its heels is the Norwegian drama “Sentimental Value” with eight nominations, followed by Ryan Coogler’s horror-tinged blockbuster “Sinners” with seven.

The acting races are particularly tight this year:

  • Best Actor (Musical/Comedy): Leonardo DiCaprio is a strong contender for his complex role in One Battle After Another, but he faces stiff competition from Timothée Chalamet, who recently took home a Critics’ Choice Award for Marty Supreme.
  • Best Actress (Drama): Industry veterans Julia Roberts (After the Hunt) and Jennifer Lawrence (Die My Love) are facing off against rising powerhouse Jessie Buckley, whose performance in Hamnet has garnered immense critical acclaim.

Television and podcasts at Golden Globes 2026

On the small screen, HBO’s “The White Lotus” continues its awards dominance, leading the television field with six nominations. Close behind is the Netflix breakout “Adolescence” with five nods. Other major contenders include returning favorites like The Bear, Severance, and Only Murders in the Building, alongside newcomer The Pitt.

The newly minted podcast category features heavy hitters such as SmartLess, Call Her Daddy, and Armchair Expert, marking a new era for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s recognition of digital talent.

Honoring Icons: Golden Eve

In a departure from tradition, the two major honorary awards were presented during the Golden Eve special on January 8. Sarah Jessica Parker received the Carol Burnett Award for her legendary contributions to television, while Dame Helen Mirren was honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Award for her decades of excellence in cinema.

Tonight’s presenters include a star-studded lineup with names like George Clooney, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Lisa from BLACKPINK expected to take the stage.
