Anil Kapoor is enjoying a remarkable phase in his career, having recently celebrated significant successes. Following the box office triumphs of ‘Animal’ and ‘Fighter’, winning the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, and earning a spot on the TIME100AI list, he has yet another reason to make India proud.

International Emmy Awards Nomination

This time, Kapoor’s acclaimed series ‘The Night Manager’ has received global recognition with a nomination for Best Drama Series at the International Emmy Awards 2024. The show, which is the Indian adaptation of the acclaimed British series, stood out as the sole entry from India across 14 categories announced on Thursday.

Kapoor’s Reflections on the Nomination

Reacting to the nomination, Kapoor expressed his excitement: “It’s just been brought to my attention that our Indian adaptation of ‘The Night Manager’ has been nominated for the International Emmy Awards. I remember when the offer came in, I was conflicted. It offered me the opportunity to play a character so complex, but also the huge responsibility of trying to add newness and authenticity to a part that had been played so masterfully by Hugh Laurie.”

He added, “This validation from the Emmys, in addition to the tremendous love that we have received from fans worldwide, is a worthy reminder that hard work always pays off. I am ecstatic and hungrier than ever to deliver the best of myself.”

Deepak Dhar, Founder & CEO, Banijay Asia, said, “The Night Manager is a globally recognized story and producing it in the Indian context was one of the biggest challenges, as well as an honor. The power-packed star cast lead by Anil Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapoor and Sobhita Dhulipala, truly added the required intensity to the narrative. The vision and flawless execution helmed by Showrunner and Director Sandeep Modi, Director Priyanka Ghosh, Writer – Shridhar Raghavan, and the entire Technical team, made the Indian adaptation as compelling, if not more.” He further added, “Receiving an International Emmy nomination truly validates the quality of Indian content production, on a global stage.”

Director & Showrunner Sandeep Modi said, “With The Night Manager, the most challenging thing was to tell the story again in a way that it would appeal to the audiences. Each character has been crafted meticulously, in a way that they connect with the Indian audiences and the ethos. I am excited and beyond happy that The Night Manager is the only Indian nomination at the International Emmy Awards. This wouldn’t have been possible without our incredible collaborators; Banijay Asia, The Ink Factory and Disney+ Hotstar. Kudos to the entire cast and crew for this valuable recognition.”

Aditya Roy Kapur, who essays the role of Shaan Sengupta aka The Night Manager said, “An Emmy Nomination for my first series.. wow! From day one, we knew that we were creating something special with The Night Manager but for it to receive so much love and recognition across the country, and the world was not something any of us had imagined. This is such a big moment for us all ! Sandeep, Anil Sir, Sobhita, Tilotamma, the Disney+Hotstar team and to every member of our cast and crew – this one’s for all the hard work and effort that everyone’s put in.”

Sobhita Dhulipala, who plays Kaveri, said “This is such fantastic news! I’m so happy for the directors Sandëép Modi and Priyanka Ghose as well as our phenomenal technical crew. This is very very motivating and moving. Big shout out to Anil Sir, Aditya, Tillotama and the rest of the cast for this exciting moment and shared joy!”
