Mumbai Police have arrested actor Nadeem Khan, who played the role of the cook Akhlak in the blockbuster film Dhurandhar, following serious allegations of sexual assault. According to reports by PTI, the arrest took place on January 22, 2026, after a 41-year-old woman filed a formal complaint.

The complainant, who works as a domestic help, told authorities that she first met Khan in 2015 while working at the residences of various actors. As reported by Hindustan Times, she alleges that Khan entered into a relationship with her under a false promise of marriage. Over the next decade, she claims she was repeatedly raped at her home in Malwani and at Khan’s residence in Versova. The woman decided to approach the police after Khan reportedly refused to follow through on his promise to marry her.

The investigation is currently ongoing

The legal process began when the victim approached the Versova Police Station. However, Livemint reported that the case was initially filed as a Zero FIR and subsequently transferred to the Malvani Police Station. This transfer occurred because the first alleged incident took place within Malvani’s jurisdiction, where the victim also resides.

Official sources from the Malvani Police have confirmed that Khan is currently in police custody. Investigators are currently in the process of verifying the woman’s detailed statement and checking for any prior complaints or similar patterns of behavior. While the actor’s legal team had previously hinted at a defense of extortion, no formal public statement has been issued by Khan or his representatives since the arrest was confirmed by news agencies like PTI.

Impact on OTT release and Dhurandhar 2

The arrest has caused significant unrest within the industry, primarily because Dhurandhar – starring Ranveer Singh and directed by Aditya Dhar – is currently a massive commercial hit, having crossed Rs 1300 crore at the box office. According to several media outlets, the film is still scheduled to begin streaming on Netflix this Friday, January 30, 2026.

As of now, neither the producers nor Netflix have announced a delay or any changes to the film’s digital release. Khan was reportedly part of the cast for the sequel, Dhurandhar 2, which is scheduled for a March 2026 release. However, the situation has put upcoming projects in a difficult position.
