In an update for fans of slapstick comedy, the fourth installment of the beloved franchise, Dhamaal 4, has seen a major strategic shift in its theatrical rollout. While the project was formally confirmed in early 2024 and initially aimed for an Eid 2026 release, the makers have officially decided to postpone the film.
Following the historic, record-breaking success of Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar, which recently crossed the Rs 770 crore net mark in India, Ajay Devgn and director Indra Kumar have opted to move their film to June 12, 2026. This decision was made to avoid a massive three-way box office clash with Dhurandhar 2 and Yash’s Toxic which are massive movies with Box Office domination power. A summer release date would give Dhamaal 4 some breathing space and a fair chance to perform.
The shift was confirmed by T-Series on Saturday, January 17, 2026, through a clever social media post that reassured fans the ‘madness’ is still coming; just a little later than planned. Dhamaal 4 comes after the massive success of Total Dhamaal back in 2019, and the team is confident that this ‘clean’ window will allow for maximum footfall.
Cast and creative direction
One of the biggest draws for Dhamaal 4 is the return of the core madcap quartet. Ajay Devgn, who led the previous film to the 200-crore club, is back to headline the project. Joining him are the original favorites: Riteish Deshmukh, Arshad Warsi, and Javed Jaffrey according to reports from the Times of India. There are also strong rumors that Sanjay Dutt might make an appearance – potentially reviving the dynamic from the very first 2007 film that fans have been asking for.
Indra Kumar has mentioned in recent interviews that the script for this outing is “even wilder” than the previous ones. While the first film was a race for hidden treasure and the third was a jungle adventure, the fourth installment is reportedly going to involve higher stakes and greater chaos despite filming having been done primarily in a domestic setting.
Expectations from the film
Shooting for the film kicked off in early 2025 with schedules in Mumbai and Malshej Ghat, before the crew wrapped things up toward the end of the year. Right now, the movie is in the thick of post-production.
The Dhamaal movies have always been the kind of films that audiences just show up for, regardless of what the critics have to say – critic proof, so to say. They’ve got a massive following in single-screen theaters and among families who just want a good laugh. With the film now set for a June release, the film can hope to become one of the biggest comedic events of 2026.
