The ton is buzzing once again, and this time, the spotlight has finally found its most elusive bachelor. After years of watching his siblings find their happily ever afters, Benedict Bridgerton (played by Luke Thompson) is taking center stage in a season that promises to be a hard departure from the regency romances we’ve seen so far. For Indian fans, the wait is almost over as Bridgerton Season 4 premieres on Netflix on January 29, 2026.
This season, based on Julia Quinn’s An Offer from a Gentleman, moves away from the friends-to-lovers slow burn of Penelope and Colin, opting instead for a sweeping, Cinderella-inspired fairytale.
The story kicks off at a glittering masquerade ball hosted by Violet Bridgerton, where Benedict meets the mysterious ‘Lady in Silver.’ While Benedict is instantly captivated, he has no idea that the woman who has stolen his heart is actually Sophie Baek (played by Yerin Ha), a clever and resilient maid hiding in plain sight.
Where and when to watch in India
Following the successful format of previous seasons, Netflix is releasing the eight-episode season in two distinct batches, it confirmed. For viewers in India, the first half of the season – Part 1 (Episodes 1-4) – will drop on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 1:30 PM IST. The second half, Part 2 (Episodes 5 – 8), will follow a month later on February 26, 2026.
Returning alongside the new leads are several fan favourites, including Jonathan Bailey as Anthony and Simone Ashley as Kate (the Kanthony duo), along with Penelope and Colin, who are now navigating their new life as parents. With a mix of old favourites and a Cinderella story-line that showrunner Jess Brownell describes as “dynamite,” Season 4 is set to be the most magical installment yet.
A new kind of leading lady
One of the most exciting updates this season is the introduction of Yerin Ha as Sophie Baek. In a meaningful nod to the actress’s Korean heritage, the showrunners changed the character’s surname from the book’s “Beckett” to “Baek.” Sophie’s journey is one of survival and grit just like Cinderella’s; once raised as a noble young lady, she was forced into servitude following the death of her father.
Her presence is a breath of fresh air, breezing into the show – shifting the focus from the upper-class ‘marriage mart’ to the rigid class divides of Regency England. Sophie is a woman navigating a world that refuses to see her, making her eventual collision with the high-society world of the Bridgertons all the more high-stakes. Fans can expect an all-encompassing romance that explores whether love can truly bridge the class divide.
