Sunny Deol is back, and the box office is feeling the heat! His latest war epic, Border 2, has taken a massive start, proving that the audience’s love for patriotic sagas is stronger than ever. In just its opening weekend, the film has already stormed past the Rs 150 crore mark worldwide, making it the first big Hindi hit of 2026.

Border 2 Worldwide Box Office Collection

The war-drama is doing great business globally. With about $2.6 million coming in from international markets, the total worldwide collection has reached Rs 167 crore.

With this number, Border 2 has already beaten the lifetime earnings of Sunny Deol’s last film, Jaat, which made Rs 119 crore last year. It also sped past the opening weekend of Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar, which had earned Rs 103 crore in its first three days. With Republic Day falling right after the weekend, trade experts expect the movie to cross Rs 250 crore very soon.

The film’s journey over the last three days has been remarkably strong. It started on Friday with a solid Rs 30 crore, even though some morning shows were cancelled. Saturday saw a nice jump to Rs 36.5 crore, but Sunday was the real game-changer.

Defying all trade predictions, the film brought in a huge Rs 54.50 crore on Sunday alone. This brings the total Indian collection to Rs 121 crore net (around Rs 142.5 crore gross) in just three days.

Border 2: Story, cast and more

Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 is much bigger than the original 1991 classic. While the first movie focused on the infantry, this sequel brings in the Navy and the Air Force to show the full scale of the 1971 war.

While Sunny Deol remains the heart of the movie, the addition of Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty has brought in a younger crowd. Even with a massive budget of Rs 275 crore, the film’s current momentum suggests it will be a huge financial success for the producers.

As of today, Border 2 is the third-highest-grossing Indian film of the year, but at this rate, it won’t be long before it takes the number one spot.
