The ‘Sunny Deol magic’ is officially back at the box office. Border 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the 1997 cult classic, has shown remarkable growth during its second weekend. Directed by Anurag Singh, the war drama witnessed a significant jump in numbers on its tenth day, solidifying its position as a historic hit for 2026.

According to early estimates from Sacnilk.com, the film minted a solid Rs 22.5 crore nett in India on Sunday. This second Sunday surge has pushed the film’s total domestic collection to an impressive Rs 275.25 crore nett.

The film’s journey at the ticket window began on January 23. After a powerhouse first week that brought in Rs 224.25 crore, the movie faced the typical post-weekend dip but recovered quickly as the second weekend arrived. On Day 8 (Friday), the film collected Rs 10.75 crore. By Day 9 (Saturday), momentum picked up with Rs 17.75 crore and an average occupancy of nearly 28 per cent.

By the end of its second weekend, Border 2 had managed to surpass the opening weekend records of other major 2026 releases, including Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava and the Ranveer Singh-starrer Dhurandhar.

Border 2 surpasses lifetime collections of Uri and Fighter

It isn’t just the domestic market where the film is winning. On the global stage, Border 2 has already surged past the lifetime collections of several iconic patriotic blockbusters. The film has successfully eclipsed the worldwide totals of Vicky Kaushal’s Uri: The Surgical Strike (Rs 342 crore) and Hrithik Roshan’s Fighter (Rs 344 crore).

Trade analysts are now predicting that the Rs 400 crore global milestone is well within reach, provided the film maintains its grip during the upcoming weekdays, even with the new release of Mardaani 3 providing some competition.

About Border 2

Backed by T-Series and J P Films, Border 2 serves as a tribute to the tri-service heroism of the 1971 India-Pakistan war. While the original film focused on the Battle of Longewala, this installment expands the scope of the conflict. Alongside Sunny Deol, the film features an ensemble cast including Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty.

The supporting cast, featuring Mona Singh and Sonam Bajwa, has been praised for adding emotional depth to the high-octane action. To celebrate the victory, Sunny Deol recently shared a video on Instagram showing him cutting a cake and dancing with his team, basking in the joy of a blockbuster success.

As the film continues its historic run, rumors are already swirling about a potential Border 3, though for now, the makers are simply enjoying their reign at the top of the 2026 box office.
