Actor and former Bigg Boss Kannada contestant Mayur Patel has landed in a major legal trouble following a late-night road accident in Bengaluru. The incident, which occurred on Wednesday night, involved a high-speed collision that damaged multiple vehicles on Old Airport Road. Local authorities have now registered a case against the actor.
A high-speed pile-up at the signal
The accident reportedly took place near the Commando Hospital junction. According to the Bengaluru traffic police, Patel was driving a Toyota Fortuner when the mishap occurred. Eyewitnesses and preliminary police investigations suggest that the vehicle was being driven at an excessive speed. The SUV crashed into several cars that were waiting patiently at a red traffic signal, showing no signs of slowing down before the impact.
The collision involved a total of four vehicles, including two Swift Dzires and a government-owned car. The force of the impact caused a chain reaction, leaving the stationary cars with significant body damage. While the vehicles were badly mangled, the police confirmed that, fortunately, no one involved in the crash sustained any life-threatening or serious injuries.
Breathalyzer test and lapsed insurance
Officers from the Halasuru traffic police station rushed to the spot immediately after receiving reports of the accident. Upon detaining Mayur Patel, the police conducted a ‘Drink and Drive’ (DD) test at the scene. The breathalyzer test allegedly returned a positive result, confirming that the actor had been consuming alcohol before getting behind the wheel.
In a further twist during the documentation check, the investigation revealed that the insurance for Patel’s Toyota Fortuner had actually lapsed. This means the vehicle was being operated without valid legal coverage at the time of the crash. Consequently, the police have seized the actor’s SUV and taken it into custody as part of the ongoing investigation.
Legal trouble for the Sandalwood actor
A formal case has been registered at the Halasuru Traffic Police Station under relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act. The charges include drunk driving and rash, negligent driving. The legal process was initiated following a complaint filed by one of the motorists whose car was damaged in the pile-up.
Mayur Patel, who made his acting debut with the 2003 film Mani, became a popular face after appearing on the reality show Bigg Boss Kannada. He has also starred in films like Love Story and Rajeeva. So far, the actor has remained silent and has not issued any public statement regarding the accident or the allegations.
